A boat magnet
« on: March 30, 2010, 02:29:00 PM »
I got to Bull Shoals before dawn made it first little crack and went up the foggy Beaver Creek.  I stopped at the Maiden Hole and started catching sandies.  Only one boat came above me and they were flat out.

The rest of the boats were at the lower end of the hole 3-400 yds away and couldn't see that I was catching.  When it got good and light and the fog lifted they could see me and here thay came.  I'm glad I had caught over 30 before they started crowding me and trolling between my boat and the bank.

I only wound up with 40 because when 20 boats get in a 5 acre spot the fish either move or quit.  I did both.  I only got to fish 4 hours before I was about to get river rage.

This was my best sandie of the day.  She went 3.5 # on my Boga.  I hope I can do as well tomorrow since Red wants to go in the morning.

very cool Jigman.  makes me mad when that happens.  1ks miles of shore line and all the boats cram around you.  Sad.

Wow what a chunk!!

What did you catch them on?
Most of them were caught on my 1/8 oz bucktail swim jig.  Some came on a white 3" slider and a june bug slider.

That fish deserves the white towel treatment. LOL Nice pic!

Maybe you should slide in there about 2:30 A and fish till bout 10:00 A.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

Steve, for years big T and I would get there about 7 pm and fish till 2 am.  But that was when we could take being up all night and working all day.  But you are right fish when the others are asleep is always a good thing.

The get to over 5# sometimes.  That one is the largest I have caught this year.  Last spring we had several over 4# but none this year.

This was a fantastic fishery for over 40 years then in 2003 they died out.  I went from catching 2800 in March of 2001 to 200 all year long in 2005.  It is just now making a comeback.  I keep urging people to turn the females back but they can't see into the future only into tonight's skillet.

It is hard to say about the average but I'm guessing on ths lake 2-2.5# would be average.  Less than that on other lakes as they don't have the threadfin shad that BS has.
