Cold water locating
« on: December 09, 2009, 12:17:10 PM »
For you guys that get real cold waters say 33-40 deg water.  Where are your favorite locations to fish and what presentations do you use?

For me it is main lake points that have the morning sun on them.  I usually hit these points mid day with tubes, jigs, and jerkbaits.

Other good locations for me is a creek channel close to these points.  Same lures.

I head up the rivers and creeks when it gets really cold water.  I tend to go for small baits on light line.

Now when March gets here, out come the jerk baits and I'm heading back into the creeks and flat coves.  I can't stand that 5 bites per day that Jan and Feb give me on jerks.

Small tubes, finesse worms and 1/8 ounce jigs.  I hang around the wood and fish it slow.
