Consolation Pond

Well after yesterday's fiasco I had to take Kermit out to the pond for a pick me up. I tried the usual places and retrieves and it was just like yesterday, the dead sea.  I walked over to the abode of Mr. Bass and chucked Kermit all around on both sides. Nothing , not even a swim by. It's sort of a challenge on account of all the trash and the overhangs. My saving grace is if I hang a valuable bait in the overhanging limbs I can just walk out there when the water gets hard and retrieve it.  ;D.  So I chucked it right in the thick of things, twitch, twitch, nothing pulled it about 18" onto some scum and let it set. Nothing. Twitch twitch and then just as Kermit  was about to excuse himself..... KA BOOM ! My 15lb big game wrenched him out of his lair for a quick photo op and then right back.

That was a bit of comfort after yesterdays torture.

That's cool Get! I used to have a little place I could fish that I called, "Lake Redemption". I could always count on catching a bass or two every time.

Very nice fish Get.

I like the fact that you will throw your bait in the nastiest of cover and will retrieve when the water ices over. It's a great idea, but I got a laugh outta that.

I'd hate to admit what I did a couple of weeks ago retrieving a lure... :D

Jigfishn10, tomorrow I got a small club tourney and I'm not on any fish at all.  :-\  It happens some time but I just don't want Rachel to lose interest .  There's a pretty good chance of rain tonight and maybe tomorrow also. I think we'll have cloud cover in the morning at least for a while. There are 2 main tributaries. The river arm is muddy or at least has a good stain to it. The other main tributary is a creek and that arm is fairly clear until you get up in the creek a ways.
If we do get the clouds we might have a stroke of topwater luck. I tied the Boogerman Buzz on her rod. I got Kermit and on the other topwater is where my dog walking dilemna comes in.  I got some $10 baits, a little specialty one that is a $20 bait, and then I got another sweet little balsa topwater that cost me a pretty penny. I chickened out and tied on the $10 Sammy. Hope it works.

Good luck Steve.  Surely there will be a top water bite early.  The bassers at Stockton had a good early bite this week.
