Different ways to look at the same thing
« on: July 15, 2010, 02:50:12 PM »
Here is my first time using my new toy.  I have a pic with the camera above the surface.  One on side scan.  One on down scan and one on  2d sonar.

It is a very small cut in a bluffy bank on Table Rock lake in the Cape Fair area.

That looks really cool. Unfortunately for me, being a shorebound angler, I have no clue as to interpret the visual information and can only guess.  For example, does the dip in the second image on the right side correspond to the dip in the bottom image? And what do the red and blue color and the whitish gray underneath represent? Is the whitish gray mean a solid bottom?

This is so fascinating and cool, but gosh darnet, I might as well try to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics.  :-[

Do tell, please. :)

Jack and G I am heading out Sunday pm for 5 days at Stockton.  I plan to take multiple pics of lots of places and will be happy to share.  I had to go to Table Rock today because storms were going across the northern counties at the time we were leaving and we'd have been right in the middle of them.

IB you are pretty much on target.   The top two were taken at the same time using left and down scan.  The 2d sonar was on another pass since I didn't have time for 2 screen shots since I didn't stop the boat.  Typically blue is the softest, red next and yellow hardest but I haven't tweeked anything yet as I am looking a 13 different palettes from which I can choose.  You can also see old trees standing along the sides.

Thanks for the info, JM. I think that is awesome to have such data at your finger tips. And to be able to choose the colors is just as neat. I can only foresee one fear and that is having this information and still getting skunked.  ;D  Sure would be cool to have a similar deal for the shorebound.
