Feelin froggy
« on: June 12, 2010, 08:22:57 PM »
Today as I was thinking about killing off some of the moss/scum  on the surface of my pond I decided  I should try my frog. I went down to the pond and had a wee bit o fun. I landed 3  fish out of about 10 strikes. I don't fish this technique very often so I didn't really know what I was doing.
The strikes are so explosive that they scared me every time. LOL . I did manage one good one though.

That’s a nice one!
My last frog outing turned really bad when I had a nice one right next to the boat and he spit the dang frog back at me! I missed some others but this one was text book right and he still got off. ::)

I bought a Giant sized Spro bronze eye frog last year and fished it in a few tourney's last year and this year with literally no results. But yesterday I got my first bite on it after shortening the (skirt) legs on it just over a 1/2 in or so before take-off. I figured if I caught one(or more!) on it yesterday it there would be some count to it and we would'nt have to make up so much ground the rest of the day. It was a decent chunk fish, but no where near what I had hoped for(close to 3lb). I had 2 more bumps on it but no more takers.

congrats on the frog fish, get!

Kinda hard to see in the pic  but that's a big glob of moss on  my line and the down below that is a black frog with legs that are like paddle tails. They work sort of like a buzzbait if you keep it moving. The legs are chartruese. That's probably my first frog fish in at least 10 yrs, maybe 15. I just don't get around the right conditions very often and lo and behold there they are right in my own front yard.

We had a heavy rain last night and it knocked down a whole bunch of that surface moss/scum. I went and tried a Pop R but only had one taker. a Fingerling that was not quite twice the length of the Pop R. LOL !

I sometimes use a white Zoom Horny Toad, Get. It works just as good around the grass as well as it does in/over the grass. ALOT of the strikes come just when you've worked it several feet off the grass/weeds and your working it ba ((thub!)) ...back to the boat.

Rage frog or is it one of your UV frogs??

It's not a UV frog but I'll be durned if I know for certain the brand.  Once I go below the surface I only use UV plastic.
