First big Largie of the year
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:34:51 PM »
A nice 4 pound largemouth to start off my big fish catch this year. Her eyes were bulging out pretty hardcore and she had more black pigment spots than I've ever seen on a Bass before. She fought strong and swam away fine after a nice easy release.Caught her in less than a foot of water.....I wasn't expecting her to be there as I was after that smaller 1-2 pounders chasing after the bluegills.

Also caught 3 more smallmouths and a stupid carp who was caught up in some weeds on somebody else's jig and line. I ended up snagging the line and reeling in the carp.I was lucky to get it in to be honest. He was pretty happy after I pulled that jig out of it's mouth. It leaped for joy not more than a few seconds later...LOL.It was fun reeling it in though.

How's everybody else doing so far this year?

Nice report Grimlin. Glad ya got a hold of a nice one. I'm  relegated to the pond right now since my Motorguide is waiting for parts. I'm trying to use this time to get some outdoor maintenance done.

Nice goin' grim.  I'm not getting to go right now because my back went out a few days ago and it is giving me fits.  I hope to get out by the end of the week.

WTG Grimlin! I don't think i have caught anything of size this year ('cept that grinnel a few weeks ago).

We went early this morning and caught a few before 8:00a. The first fish i caught i never even hooked(a 2.5# maybe, on TightLine UV lizards) . The hook was standing up in its mouth like a car hood prop rod, even swung the fish into the boat w/o dislodging it.  ;D  No topwater action to speak of!

Hope you get feeling better soon, Jig Man!

Way to go Grim! I have had better luck on my non-tournament days. I hope that changes soon.

Hope you feel better soon Jig Man ;)

I caught a big bass in similar fashion earlier this year Buzz but she just had her mouth clamped down tight on the bait. As soon as I got her in the net she relaxed and out it popped.

Cool to hear about your recent haul- BZ- as for the carp, funny that you snagged the line and had a jig in his mouth. The carps down here 90% of the time won't even approach a worm or doughball, for me to hear that one is an oddity. I would love to fight one of these 30# monster carps down here, but they won't bite a line unless you removed all the weeds from it. Have a great day & "Land a Lunker!"
A dropshot is irresistable to Bass when worked correctly!
