I didn't really check to see if it was a spot or a LM but it was the same fish

besides subtle physical differences, the spotted bass is a heck'uva lot meaner. you can tell the one is a spot because of the jaw line. lm mouth goes past the eye and the spots doesnt. look at each of those pics again and you will see what i mean.
