Arrived at the cattle gate with my buddy today at 5:30 AM, it was still dark. The 14 acre private watershed was the clearest I've ever seen it. We started out with Scum Frogs and they were creating quite a ruckus as these fish were totally eating these baits, as long as they were black. No action on a white and very little on a green.
Lots of grass or vegetation growing all the way to the surface and the fish were in the edges where they smashed these black scum froggs buzzing the edges.
We had boated several but when the sun came up we switched to T-rigged Senkos fished weightless and continued in the fun. About 9:00 we got a slight breeze and out came the bluegill colored 3/8 oz spinnerbaits with the small Colorado hammered gold blades. These fish were smashing these baits with complete abandon even right at the boatside .
About 11:00 we had 45 on the counter with the biggest being around 2.5 -3 lbs. Most were in the 12- 15" range. All were healthy and aggressive. We kept 10 of the small ones along with 2 bonus 11" crappie.
We decided to go for 50 before leaving and Jim hooked up the big fish of the outing for number 48 on a black spinnerbait with hammered gold colorado blades in 3/8 oz. This fish was 20.5" and real solid. We didn't have a scale but I believe it would clear 6 lbs.

49 & 50 took a bit longer but we finally got em and called it a good morning about 11:30.
