It's picking up a bit
« on: September 07, 2010, 02:50:13 PM »
We had a cold front come in this morning.  Magoo and I hit Stockton at daybreak and fished until noon.  I had to leave and get home and put the camper on the drive before the next rain (tonight).

We snagged on to 18 blacks with 4 of them keepers with white spinnerbaits and white/chart swim jigs being the ticket.  We had several hits on plastics but never go a single fish to the boat.  The water temp has dropped from 85° to 75°.

I'm looking forward to taking  next week off and spening it on Pomme de Terre.

Sounds like your right on the cusp of some great opportunities. Jig Man do you ever use a paddle tail swimbait  (4") on your swimbait.  That large paddletail can overpower the swim jig and give the skirt some great action. It sounds like the fish are definitely dining on shad.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

They were eating shad at Taylorsville Lake a couple of weeks ago. My partner caught a 13" bass with probably a 6" or bigger shad in its belly. The tail was sticking out of the bass' mouth.

Sounds like a good day JM. The cold front moved through here yesterday with a little rain but a lot of wind. That wind has kept me shore bound for the last couple of days but I plan on getting some fishing done today.

Scott, we did not get much rain here. The little we did get was spotty. But we did get the wind.
