It Figures!
« on: September 09, 2010, 03:37:38 AM »
Last week I signed up for vacation and the weather report was for a beautiful week. Of course that has all changed!
I got out yesterday, after the cold front, and the fishing was really tough. Managed five caught but no size. I did have a 3lb fish try to rip my arm off while I was swimming/ hopping  a ˝ oz jig. It is amazing how strong they can be at that size!
I’m heading out again today because the forecast looks ugly for Friday and Saturday.
If someone has time would you please stop by and mow my grass? ;D

I'm thinking you will be getting what we have right now.  It is raining and they say the wind is going to rip.  We aren't supposed to settle down until some time on Saturday.  I'm hoping to go to Pom on Sunday pm and fish for a few days if this Hermie thingy blows on by.

Scott, hope the weather holds-off and you get some fishing done.  We'll be at Paducah on Saturday for a partially outdoors track & field event.

Not yet Jack. I was really looking for that yesterday but the last couple of trips it has been hard to find the bait fish. I caught six yesterday, largest being 4.2, but they all came on 10” worms in 10 to 20‘ of water. They were on the drops. I got there early, first light, and tried buzz baits, spinners, lipless cranks, and swim jigs.

JM it looks like you guys are going to get it worse than us. I don’t know about your area but we are 10 ˝” behind on rain this year. Launching the boat is not a problem though; when the boat gets to the end of the ramp the trailer sinks out from under it! Some of the guys with the bigger boats are having problem. They have to keep their trailers from dropping off of the ramp or else they can’t pull it out.

Greg my SNL’s company is having their company picnic at Holiday World Saturday. I told them to take their raincoats. Good luck on the track and field events.

Hoppy we got drowned in May and I mean that literally as most of my garden plants stood in water so long they died.    Then we had the wettest and hottest July ever.   August was 0 at my house and what was left in the garden died even with watering.

Here comes September and we had rain 2 days last week 5" and 4".  Yesterday we had another 3".  More is supposed to come today then the forcast says Sat-Wed is going to be good.  We are going to try to get to Pom for 3 or 4 days.  We can't be gone any longer because my m-i-l is in heart failure and prolly doesn't have a lot of time left but is taking one last trip with some friends those days.

At any rate, I'm glad you did some experimenting and found some fish.  I haven't had hold of a 4# fish since May.

The only thing I like about the lack of rain is no grass to cut. My yard is full of crapgrass anyway. It is overcast now and rain is predicted for today and tomorrow. We'll see.

With all the watering going on around here the Ohio river has dropped 3’! We have trees in the neighborhood that are dieing.
It “rained” all day yesterday but before I came in last night we still only had around ˝”. Forecast is for T storms this afternoon so lets hope we see a bit more.
I have Sunday and Monday to finish off my vacation but I am facing another cold front situation.

We were at Paducah yesterday for a school event, and it looked like rain a good part of the morning, but it cleared-up and got warm again.  That little bit of rain we got enticed the grass to grow a bit more, so it looks like I may have to do some slight mowing once again.

I think we got a slight trace of rain here Friday. No rain at all on Saturday but they called for it.
