It happened again
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:31:37 PM »

Yesterday I was fishing a tree row in 7' of water just for fun. I had already caught 2 from there and was giving it a good thorough going over. My buddy who is not quite so proficient with his jig gets snagged. We eased in there and by the time he got loose the truth is we really stunk the place up pretty good. As the nose of the boat just cleared the branches and brush I dropped my bait right where the nose of the boat was stuck in the tree line and bam! I caught a really nice largemouth. This is not the first time I have caught fish immediately after banging around and stirring things up. Anyone else ever experience this?

Funny thing is about 3 yrs. ago it happened with the same buddy. We were back in a creek pocket and somehow his eye glasses fell overboard. He stripped down to his shorts and eased into the water to try to find them. The water was about shoulder deep. He found them miraculously and got back back in the boat. while he was redressing I pitched into a bush about 3 ft. from where he went in and I caught a 4lber. Weird.

Sounds like he's the guy to fish with everytime  :) .  So.....................when people ask you what your favorite bait is, do you tell them your buddy's name?  :)

I've only done that once in the entire time i've been fishing. Was all up in a  huge tree laying in the water bumping and thrashing about and within a few mintues of sitting still, burrried up in the top, I hooked into a 5 lb'er. Only fish I caught that day, that was in a tournament too!

I was in the back of a creek once (pre-fishing) and the bite was way, way off. You could see shad and such on the ol bird but nothing doing. It was in a small double s-bend over a shallow channel with stumps peppered throught there....I started turning 360"s with the t-motor over and over and over covering an area down the middle about 60-70 yrds. ........, .........  and in about 15 minutes started working my way back through there and started catching fish. Caught several, then they quit again. Odd.  ;D

Charlie Campbell side walks spooks and brings them up to trees.  He will tap the tree with the bait as he is saying, "Knock, knock, is anybody home?"  It has worked well for him for over 40 years.

We were in a creek off the Ohio River once and the water was clear. you could see the bottom in about 7 or eight feet. My partner was hung up and the trolling motor was banging the snag. I pitched my bait in and saw a bass come out and eat it. Unfortunately it was a dink but I was still surprised.

I once saw two old men pull up to a laydown and toss their anchors out. KAPLOUSH!
I told my Grandson “they won’t be catching anything”; Boy was I wrong. The guy hooks a nice Crappie just as I said that! ::)
