My new spot paid off
« on: July 13, 2011, 05:20:47 PM »
With a good un for the pond. The lake is up several feet which is creating lots of new spots for now. Last night I tossed a 10" worm in a stick pile completely expecting a fish to be there. After about a 5 second pause, WHAM !, almost knocked the rod out of my hands. Needless to say I didn't get the fish. That fish hit like a freight train. I haven't had a hit like that in many years. I went back to knock on his door but he didn't answer so I poked around and found another likely looking spot. It produced this guy.

Ok I guess I'm a sissy.  It has been too hot for me to go to the lake even at night and I'm sure it is hotter in KS than it is here.  Maybe remembering that pic will give me motivation to head out when I get back from building fence today. ;)

Awesome fish Get. I'm sure if you go knocking on that other fish's door, he'll answer!

Congrats!  ;)

Jig Man , if you're buildin fence in this weather then you certainly aint no sissy. Definitely hot though. I slipped out from mowing today at 2:30 instead of 4:30.  :-\  I met my limit.

I'll be out some this weekend. Rachel is away tomorrow until Sun. so maybe I'll get out .

You keep catchen 'em up Steve. I MAY get the chance to get out Saturday but it will be for a short one. Our Shutdown starts Sunday so I know it will be at least two weeks before I can go again!
If I can't go at least I can look at your pretty face. ;D

I just got some bad/good/bad news.  Red has me a camping spot reserved on the Rock as our daughter and here family will be vacationing at their lake house all next week and she wants to be close by so they can go places together.  We are supposed to have every day over 100° and my s-i-l wants to scan some of his spots and do some fishing.

I just hope my bilge pump is large enough to pump out the sweat and keep the boat from sinking.

Can you see I'm jealous ? Haven't been to the Rock all year and I don't like it.  I've been lurking on the Ozarks angler forum though and sure enuff they are catchin fish.  BTW, Steve Dickey has a video on the front page of that forum. Have you seen it?
If I'm stuck out there between 10 and 4  in these temps I lay out a hand towel and put a line of ice cubes the entire length and then roll it up  and secure it with a few rubber bands or pony tail hair bands. I hang it around my neck inside my collor. I only wear very light colors . This will help keep your core temps lower. Refresh the ice cubes as needed. Jig Man, take us some pics while you're down there havin fun.

Hoppy , well ........... all I can say is I'll do better next time.

I couldn't get the site to come up.  I'll try again tomorrow.
