Never leave home without it
« on: April 22, 2006, 08:52:46 PM »
Went fishing today.  Sun shining and slight wind.  Launched the boat and while I was flipping the dock a guy pulled up to pick up some kids to go fishing.  He opened up the livewell and said check this out kids.  When he said that I was expecting a 5+lb bass.  Well it was only about 2.5 and some lady goes wow how much does that weigh.  He said I'm not sure but it got to be alot. I just smiled and moved on.  So I kept fishing and went on.  After about 100 yds I hooked into a 3.5lb bass on my lucky crankbait.  Will post pic tomorrow. Then I kept fishing and caught a couple dinks and then switched to a spinnerbait.  Bam a nice crappie, then another dink.  Some reason I looked up and noticed clouds coming in.  I thought cool the sun will go behind the clouds and maybe the fish will bite better.  Well, no they didnt.  Started rumbling and I thought hmmm the other guys on the lake just left so I will hang out while they take out their boats.  Then all the sudden I watched the wall of water come across the lake.  Made a sound I'd never heard.  I jumped down and took off but by time I hit the dock only about 200 yds I was soaked from head to toe.  This is the only time this year I have not had a rain suit with me.  Also the only time it rained on me besides a few sprinkles.  So I believe there is something to do with me not having a rain suit.  Even the weather guy said no storms today ::2

Lesson learned, Always take the rain suit.  So you dont have to drive home with no shirt on while your sitting on your floor mat so you dont get the seat wet.

But you caught some fish!, lol.

Last year I drove home for about 100 miles soaking wet (well I was almost dry by the time I pulled in the driveway   ::) ).  One Friday a friend asked me if I wanted to follow him down to TN and fish with him on his Triton, so I said sure.  He had a tourney the next day so I knew I'd be driving back later that day.  Great day until the weather started getting bad, so we headed towards the dock, then the waves picked-up real good (it never did rain, so we're still dry)...then he spears a huge wave which comes over the bow and we're soaked.  Still had a good time and didn't even catch anything.

Don't trust the "weather guessers"   :o   :)

Mine stays in the boat in the compartment space so I never leave home without it unless I go in another boat but always try to remember it

The one time you forget something you rarely need you will need it. Forgot my ores one time and i really could have used them. I always try to remember coats etc. even when it is 100 out. As they say here in south dakota... if you dont like the weather just wait 5 minutes :D

2 weekens ago it looked like it was about to t-storm so we went to the boat ramp where all the other fishermen were taking there boats out of the water so we fished the cove next to it to wait for them. by the time the boats were all gone the rain had stopped and my dad caught a nice 3 pounder. so dont always give up to a little bit of rain.
