New Year, New State
« on: January 06, 2012, 08:43:27 AM »
I made it out yesterday to Old Hickory to have a look see. The weather was great for Jan. It was about 37 and sunny when we started and probably reached 50 or 55. Not much wind. Steve Dickey and I put in at Flippers which is about mid lake and we went to a large creek tributary and started looking around. We found some secondary points on northern banks getting good sun exposure. These banks were 45 slopers with deep water nearby. The water temp was 45. We caught all  fish on jerkbaits. Couldn't get no takers on jigs. We ended up with 8 bass and 1 catfish. Only one was a keeper.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

Nice fish Steve.  Good to not get the skunk on you in new water.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you were fishing jerkbaits with Dickey in the boat as he rarely uses one of them. >:D

Nice fish!  Beautiful day!  I'm missing my boat and being out on the water! Only 4 months to go for me.... ::)  Oddly enough, we're having a snowless winter here in MN so far.  All the water is hard but it's going to be 48 deg tomorrow, again.
