Oh yeah!
« on: September 06, 2010, 08:38:02 PM »
I put a hurt on them smallmouths today! Not only did i find the pattern i also found the magic bait!

It was an alluring trick stick in solid black color. Rigged it weight less t-rig on a 4/0 hook.Plain and simple.

If you know me I do not fish with black color lures.......Boy i love it when my Conscience tells me the right thing to do and i actually do it.

my guess ... you had little to no wind(less than 8mph), plenty of sunshine and the humidity was rather low. I would say you didn't have any current but I don't have a clue where you where fishing.

Good to hear you had a good day on the water, grim!

Yeah very little wind, threats of rain but never really happened(cloudy for the most part),humidity was low.However...the current was the key...find current and you'll find the fish.  I hit up 9 spots today on a local river inside a park...it didn't take me long to figure out rather the fish were gonna bite on the spot. I tried to stay in the 15 minute then move rule(a rule i made for myself today) and it worked.Normally i spend an half an hour to an hour at a spot...this time i didn't.

The current was very light though....I threw just outside of the current and dragged the bait into the current and into rock boulders. Those fish were hiding in those boulders. The weightless t-rigged worked like a charm in not getting hung up on every cast.I lost more tube baits in the past fishing that part of the river than i care to say.I had to rip them out of those rocks before they hung me up and got slack in the line...that was the only challenge i had today.I still only had a 50% landing rate...those fish seem pretty dang smart... ;D

My wrist was giving me a little trouble, that could have something to do with the landing rate as well.....I had problems reeling in fast enough before they got off the line. LOL

I definitely had fun today....I haven't had a day like this in a long time.

I believe around ten....Lost the same amount.

Ain't bad by my standard for shore fishing in 2-2 1/2 hours.  :)

I'm lucky to catch one or two in that time frame usually.  :embarassed:

Great action is always refreshing. It does a lot for the trip home. Way to go. I can catch em on a bait like that frequently but the funny thing is when I try that in my pond they wont even touch it. Go figure.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.
