....owe it all to Jig Man

.....and his recent posts!
Hit one of the local lakes for a bout 4 hours this afternoon/evening in the kayak,....For some reason they wanted nothing to do with any bait that was staying still,..so eventually I began to swim a jig (other baits may have worked too but my tackle selection on the kayak is usually limited to worms & jigs..)! Anyway,..that appeared to be the ticket. Total for the day was 10 bass,..3 on a dropshot when the sun came out for a while & the rest were on a rapidly swimming jig when it was overcast with a light breeze!!
I had a few misses thrown in as well, but that's the nature of the bait,...Anyway,..it was mostly Jig Man's recent posts that caused me to commit to swimming it in the first place,... so thanks there JM, felt good to go through a bunch of trailers for a change!
ps: Even though I was using a black&blue jig,...I was getting all my bites on a black chunk trailer. When I switched to a blue chunk I got nothing for about 30 minutes,....then when i went back to black (with apologies to Amy Winehouse
) I immediately started catching again!

Nice J4F. If I can recall, I believe it is almost the same time as last year that the swimming Jig was working well for you. Maybe that time of year again? I remember it was near the tournament I have this Sunday, and I think I caught a few after reading your post last year
Good reminder to try it this Sunday

That's true Joe,..but in the past I've just always picked up an occasional swim-jig bass here & there in between catching them with a normal presentation. This was the first time for me where it was all swimming & none by bottom bouncing! Also, I was really surprised that the chunk-color made so much difference since it was a black & blue jig to begin with!
ps: Don't know whether it was a factor,..but the water was exceptionally clear and it was following a very cool night,..really sort of Autumn conditions!

Thanks for the accolade J4F. We had a few swimjig fish last night ourselves but you did as well as both of us put together.
TomTom caught 5 on the good point from the other night while I was catching 2. I was using tubes and shaky worms to start but after I got behind I switched to a jig. When we were finishing he did say, "By the way I was swimming the brown jig."
One would think that info could have come a little earlier.
We were on a very rocky, ledgy, point with the boat in 22-25 fow. He caught 2 of them throwing back across the point so he must have been swimming 15 or so feet deep.
I tried it later on a bluff end and had 3 on swimming just off the botton with the boat in 18 fow. However, all three of them came unbuttoned.

That is great. I am going to keep that in mind as a tactic to try.
