Question to be answered
« on: May 04, 2006, 03:31:55 PM »
When I go fishing I figure if driving time is 3 hours I like to fish about 5 hours, does any one else do that , or do you stay till you are wore out.

Also how many on the forum fish by themselfs I noticed lately not to many fisherman are paired up on the lakes wonder why.

Maybe because of conflict of interest where to go, when to go, when to come home, where to fish  etc. etc.

I try to have someone with me all the time.  I hate fishing alone.  I'm afraid I might catch a big one and not have anyone to see it so they wont believe me. :)

The lake and river are all within 15 minutes of my house so I just go until I get tired, or its gets too late and I have to go to work the next day.

Only time I drive way off is when I am fishing a tourney, so I just leave and come home when it is over.

If I ever do get to take far away trips to fish without being in a tourney, I'm sure I will fish it until I get slap wore out.

I fish alot by myself.  Take the camera and a tackle box and go have a peace and quiet time.  The only time I fish with someone is on long trips or sometimes at the ol honey holes.  I usually fish by myself because I dont have any of the I'm bored, I'm hungry, The fish arent bitting(while I catching tons).  I leave when I want to.  Usually when I'm tired or the batteries are dead.  I dont have alot of time right now to fish and what time I do get I dont want it cut short by someone cutting me short.  Yeah thats selfish I know.  I do have a few buds that are like me and wont be the first ones to give in so they are the ones I fish with most of the time.  I can sense when their ready to go but I dont say anything until I'm ready.  They new upfront that they are in it for the long haul if they're fishing with the Gman. ;D  I look at it as I'm the boat owner, I towed it here, I dont want to hear the complaints. Ok enough of the soap box.

I usually fish alone becuase the majority of my fishing is tournaments, so I don't want anyone fishing with me, and when I do just go for fun it's usually on a wimb so I don't bother to ask anyone.

I fish by myself quite a bit. I stay as long as I feel like staying. I used to say I would be home by a certain time but that didn't work. So I just say I' don't know when I'll be back. It doesn't matter if I drive 15 minutes or three hours. When I was a kid with hardly any responsibilities ::) I would fish all day during our vacation. We normally camped at Rough River State Park. I would walk down to below the dam and stand in one spot A-L-L day casting for that big fish we all hope for. Then I would go back to camp and eat supper but afterwards I was right back at my spot till late at night. Sometimes water snakes (big ones) would swim across my feet. Didn't reall care much for that. :)

i fish by myself in my pon prowler, but i usally go with my dad on his boat. I will stay out all day some times, but on other times i will only stay out for a few minutes. Then there are those days where the bass are everywhere and i dont leave my dock.

I always fish by myself.  I just enjoy being out by myself, I spend so much time around other people.  I'm pretty much a 5-6 hour fisher.

I try to get to the lake the night before. That way I don't have to get up so early to get there at first light.
But that's one of the nice things about being single, nobody to worry about but me. Of course, there are alot of disadvantages too. As soon as I think of some of them (besides the obvious), I'll let you know. ;)

Just another loner chiming in. I fish alone most of the time (unless my little girl wants to go fishing) because none of my buddies fish nor do they care to. They're stuck on golf.  ::)

I used to be a golf nut until I "saw" the light and I would rather catch a 2 lb bass than rip a drive down the middle these days.

It does give me the time to reflect and analyze things be it fishing or life and I like the solitude (can you tell I'm an introvert?  ;D) but gosh darnet, I sure wish I can get my buddies to discover the joys of fishing and catching as I have.

I fish alone unless someone goes with me.  :idiot

I do have a couple of buddies that I fish with from time to time but generally I?m a loner.
My buddies will sit on top of a brush pile to fish the bank; not my style.

I usually go with someone, but I do like to go alone and being able to fish the way I want to.

As for staying out on the lake it depends on where I am going and when I am going.

I've only fished alone a couple of times, and that was at the local reservoir a mile from our house.  If we take the boat, the wife and I always go together, as she enjoys getting out on the water as much as I do.  She's the one that wants to stay way after I'm ready to leave   ::)

I fish by myself most of the time, occasionally I will have another person fishing in the boat with me. From where I am located, it is more like a two hour drive to a few great lakes to fish, that being the case, five hours of fishing maybe six hours and I would be worn out for sure.

I fish by myself when I want to do some serious fishing! When I fish with others I probably fish with about a quarter of the effort I put forth when I'm by myself.  I'm more concerned with the people fishing with me catching some. I would rather they catch fish than me. The bad thing is,even holding back I still catch more and that makes me feel a little guilty.

I fish 3 team tournaments and one single man tournament per month. I like the team to have someone there to help you win it but if the tournament is one on one then I rather fish alone. Finding a good partner that fishes like you do is hard to find. I use to fun fish/pre-fish alone until I ran into someone that fishes the same as I do so now I don't fish alone other then the one man tournament. As for how long we stay out fun fishing its around 10 hours. In tournaments I fish 7 hard hours so once the weigh-in is over I am done. Back in my younger days I would head back out for a few more hours but can't deal with it now.

If I don't take a buddy with me which is very seldom or my dad don't go (which we can't catch a fish when we are together any more) then i go by myself and still can't catch a fish  ::2 but I don't really go fishing that much either so hopefully  :pray things will change.
