Rippin' the shad
« on: July 31, 2010, 06:58:36 AM »
Yesterday am Red and I were up in a creek looking for fish in tree tops with the structure scan.  Lots of fish were busting shad but would only stay up for a few seconds.  They finally got close to me and I switched to down scan and drove over them.

now that right there is interesting!

The little diagonial lines on my "fish finder" is usually fish coming near the surface or coming up enough to feed, say near a bluff wall or deep shoreline. Is that what is indicated on yours?

Buzz the irregular lines through the shad are feeding fish.  I assume the white spots in the ellipses are non feeding fish.  The little diagonals I don't have a clue since they are so straight unless they are fish that are near the outside of the cone and are sending back partial signals.

The small diagonals above the left elipses i believe are indeed fish moving to and fro from the trees to just sub-surface and back, feeding on the scattered bait fish probably. I've caught more of those, than in the balls below it seems.(What i see on my x-65 -vs- your tv  ;D)  If you see those lines again, go back and chunk at just those fish to see what happens. The seperation in feeding patterns may indicate the size groups among the schools.
