Fiddling around this afternoon and in walks the wife and announces that we need to go fish tomorrow. It'll be a little scouting trip for the Sunday club event. A nice surprise. I've got a little experiment to try. Think they'll hit it ? It's 1/4 oz.

We'll see

We made it out today. Rachel did OK for a couple hours and that's all we fished. As you know I always catch my limit which also is never the same. First off when we got to the lake the temp was about 48 and the cloudy at 6:30 Am. with a 15-20 mph North wind.  :(  My wife was concerned that she hadn't brought enough clothing. I generously offered her my emergency sweat pants and sweat shirt that I always keep inn the truck regardless. She was relieved and put them both on under her jeans and hoodie and she was good to go. After a quick undesired emergency I was ready to launch and it was precisely at this time that I realized that I had gone off and left my zip up hoodie hanging on the back porch. I was only wearing a cotton shortsleeve .  ???  Oh well , at this particular lake Wally World was only 2 miles away and even though I don't shop there I figured if worse comes to worse I could slip over there and grab something. ( I might even have the gall to return it on the way home.  Shhh. )  So off we go and the wind is howling, it is cloudy, the water temp is only 51.7 and I realize that the undesired emergency from a few minutes ago was just the beginning. She is a good, I mean great cook, but I don't know what happened. There we are, sea legs and all puckered up and the trolling motor won't get out of it's own way.  :'( This is not good. First place = 1 small dink.  Second place 1 slightly larger , let's call it a short. I decide to make one more stop and this is where my bride got a quick lesson with the net. She passed in flying colors.

When we got back to the house I took a close look at the trolling wires and realized my error. I was only getting 12 volts. Switched 1 wire and voila !  ;D.

It was too windy for me to fish the little jig with only 12 volts but the spinnerbait by War Eagle seemed to work.

Glad it worked out for you two. I have been fishing since two weeks ago this coming Sunday. Only been turkey hunting once too. Dang weather! >:(

Ha, ha funny. Turkeys wander through here constantly. You know who won't let me shoot em. Tried to put that fish in the well for the pond and she said , "he's too big. "  :D
Anyway my neighbor is a big deer hunter. A while back he got on his camo pants, his camo shirt, and his camo boots. Next he put on his camo hat with a camo facemask veil followed by camo gloves. He took his camo rifle out and............ kicked open the door and shot him one.  ;D

Looks like a real nice fish you got there!

Wind, clouds = white spinnerbait with white blades for me. Give it a try sometime if you haven't already done so. If a slower presentation doesn't work, don't be afraid to speed it up. Make them react before they think too much...if they can even do that. I never thought I would get the results in water that cold fishing fast, but I was pleasantly surprised last fall and this spring. Just a suggestion.

Good luck on you tourney this weekend.  :)

Hey, thanks for the tip. I think I'll fix me up a couple with white blades. I got some white powder and lots of blades. Just the tip I need to take the plunge. All these years and I always use nickle or gold blades. Always wanted to try some chartreuse or white blades but never seem to get it done. I'll have some ready for Sunday.

BTW I was informed today that she is ready to learn another technique besides chunking and winding a blade.

Anytime GET.

When you're in a low light condition or windswept waters, the painted blade really silouhetts much better making it appear as one larger fish. Less flash, but some days a painted blade just flat outfishes a metal one.

I use single blades 90% of the time with some type of stop and go retrieve. I firmly believe that in making that blade flutter and the skirt flare out will catch more fish in any condition.
