Short day,but good day
« on: April 03, 2010, 12:29:32 AM »
Got out on the water about 10:30,since we are still out of season i couldn't exactly target bass but i was definitely getting my season pattern set up. Hit part of Huron river for about 10 minutes and realized current was way too strong right now to practice casting. So i ended up going to the lake where i knew I could practice skipping under tree branches, docks and bridges. Took me about an half an hour to start skipping under some extremely tough cover. It's been 4 months since i was actually able to cast in water. So i felt refreshed and ready to go in 3 more weeks.I'll make a few more trips to practice until then.

I ended up catching a 12" "fish" while practice casting. I really didn't expect to see any fish this shallow so soon, specially in this part of the lake.I guess they were taking advantage of the 80 temps today.

The DNR guys were in full effect handing out tickets to people keeping any fish that was still out of season as well as no fishing license. It's been 2 years since i seen these guys around. So i was pretty shock and pretty happy to see them there.Needless to say I decided to call it quits a little earlier than i wanted to...Most of the parks were closed and to be honest....I knew the species that were still in season were swimming in those parks and i had no way of getting in or catching anything where i was at for the most part.

All in all,it was still a good day....I got out of the house in short sleeves and fresh air....that's all that mattered.

Sounds like you had a good time.

Good to see the wardens handing out tickets.

Know I have been checked in MI and TX too.  No tickets!! 8)

It is good to get out even if you can't target the bass, grim!

I was arrested once. lol. Long story short....it was thrown out, And it was on an Easter afternoon! I had misplaced my license and didn't have them on my person. You talking about a shock!!

I do go from time to time on Easter to honor my grandmother who passed away on an Easter one year  :'( ...she loved to fish!

Must be an thing for them to check license on Easter.  I was stopped Easter after church in a license check.

The policewomen asked where all the cars all the sudden came from.   I said church just let out you fool.   ( I really just thought the fool part, lol)

Actually grim, if you've ever gotten one you were probably arrested too!  I got a ticket too and I was advised of my rights (I was not cuffed, lol.)and released on my own recog. I took mine to court since I had purchased them, I just didn't have them on my person. The Game Warden saw where I had every kind of license for each year since childhood basicly(some salt lic's and hunting too while digging through all of them) and wrote a note on the ticket specifying leniency because of that, advised me to take it to court once I asked him about the circumstances, and, stood as my witness for that in court before the Judge :o. How's that for service! ;D  :P $25.00 court cost and the case was thrown out.  :whew

Them DNR guys are generally great people. I got caught once without lifejackets; brand new boat and I just forgot………….. ::) The DNR guy gave me a $70 ticket and allowed us to continue fishing! :o
BTW, court cost in our area is $110. You did get off light.
