« on: August 08, 2010, 08:07:15 PM »
But at least I'm finally fishing again.

Got out for about an half an hour to an hour today...some guy had 5 rods set up at my little sweet honey hole by the docks so i didn't get a chance to fish that spot.Oh wells.

The main thing is you got to fish today. When we are required to share water it gives opportunity to learn more about other parts of the water.  Good you got out and gave it a go.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

I didn't mind him being there. He was there first  :). It was hot, bluebird skies and no wind.....Not too many others i talked to out there were catching much either.

I did get 2 little bites though. They felt kinda small, considering i was using a 2" kalin grub with a #1 light wire hook.My favorite little bait in tough conditions.

So Larry Nixon did rub off on some people!  ;D  I use to use that very little bait on one of our southeast AL lakes when it was really really tough. Seemed to work more than not! I used black grubs thick into the cover.

Good to hear you went, Grim! Hope the rehab is going/went? well. Just take it easy on the first one you catch  :o

Yup,it sure seems to work in tough conditions pretty well here.Gotta love those little grub baits.  ;D

Well right now I'm in a wrist brace i can take off for showers and sitting around the house.Still under doctor's strict orders not to use the hand under too much stress(No heavy lifting or pushing). No rehab yet,I've kinda started myself working it real slowly trying to build a little bit of muscle up.Believe me when i say this I'm using extreme caution and still babying the wrist.Doctor told me just take an easy with it...and I'm doing just that.

I had absolutely no problems reeling or casting that day.No pain or soreness afterwards either.Which is great news for me.

I'll admit,I'm still a little nervous  trying to catch my first fish.I doubt I'll be grabbing it with my right wrist anytime soon yet.

Was the spot too small for two people to fish? Shoot, I would have politely asked if I could join him, chat a spell, catch bass or two and thank him for letting joing him.  ;D

My last outing was also a skunk out unless you count the bats flying around bumping into (or attacking?) my monofilament line as hits.  ;D

I have had them land on my rod tip before (as well as a yellow birdie).

I'm always have them bumping my line at night..

The yellow birdie ...was that the one at Gainsville that lit on your rod, twice?  That was about all the action we saw that day come to think of it.  ;D

At a periphery, you'll think they're like small sparrows, but upon closer inspection, you will notice that the wings are not birdlike. The bats in my area are quite small, maybe just 1 to 1.5 times the size of my hand.

I always have thought bats were cool since I was young.

And they fly fairly low and very erratic.  You might see them aloft over lit parking lots, lit ball fields, etc..  after dusk. They eat skeeters.

*update* went out today for about 9 hours...6 with a buddy and 3 by myself.

I skunked out with my buddy, but he caught 1 pike,1 walleye and 1 bass.....He smoked me today.Made matters worst he was teasing me saying "i though you were the Man when it came to bass fishing matt!" I ended up getting 7 hook up and every single one came off(they come off i don't count em')....Needless to say i struggled today.2 Funny stories though he hooked up on his first pike off this little dam area....He called me over to help him get it over.Well I had my grippers ready and went to bend down to grab the pike and the pike broke off resulting his rod tip whacking me in the face. Then he hooks up another pike, not ready for the hook set,he swings, line snaps and down tumbling he went! After rushing over there making sure he was alright,I started laughing so hard to the point i was crying.PAYBACK for whacking me in the face! LOL This was from 6am-12pm.

After chilling in the house for a few hours i headed back out to a little river system by my house....3 hours and finally hooked up to be my first bass fish(11") after 3 months of no Bass fishing.
Better than nothing! I take that little 11" bass for now!

Needless to say I'm pooped out and had a good day regardless....It was good to get out again.

If it's not raining too hard I'm going to hit that little river system again tomorrow....Hopefully the storms hold off(I can deal with a little rain). It was suppose to rain today, but we didn't get one drop of rain.No wind and high humidity was horrible today.  Fishing was affected and it showed.

PS that Clip on OFF fan repellent  thing worked great with my buddy, but then my dumb self forgot it at home when i went by myself and got ATE UP by those mosquitoes. Lesson learned.....always carry bug spray or at least remember that clip on fan!
