What a day!
« on: August 11, 2010, 05:58:17 AM »
Dad and I went out to a lake last Saturday that is electric motor only.  Started off slow, then my Dad started getting some small ones on cranks, and I pulled a 3-10 out of a brush pile using a jig.
Dad backs the boat up away from a lily pad and we hear a grinding noise when we hit a submerged stump.  Tried to go forward, nothing, tried to go back more and nothing.  Pulled up the trolling motor and the prop was gone!
Luckily we had some paddles, so we stayed in the area and fished it real good.
When it was time to leave we had about a 20 min. trip back to the dock using paddles.

I had a similar experience with a 3 blade prop.  I threw one and the thing went crazy so I had to load up go driving around the lake to find another.   Now I carry a spare.

As rough as I am with my trolling motor you'd think I would have thrown one by now. If you were to look at mine you might think I have been "4-wheeling"  ::) ;D

That's terrible. At least you had other means of propulsion. Pat yourselves on the back for having such a contingent in place. 8)
