When it rains it….
« on: June 04, 2011, 01:15:46 AM »
After getting my new charger installed I discovered that I also had a bad battery. That required a Wally World trip and I now have two new batteries. I don’t get to fish as much as I use to so I want everything right when the opportunity presents itself. Another word for opportunity is cash; as in I had to spend some! As long as the rest of you don’t tell the wife how much I spent she will be really happy for me. ;D

We have been in the throws of a massive high pressure area and the temperatures show it. Today is supposed to be around 97*. Our highs this time of year are generally around the mid 80’s. I’m heading to my “grass lake” at first light today but I will most likely be home no later than noon. Funny but last week at the same lake I was shivering because it was cold and damp; that won’t be a problem today! ::)

Hoppy, I'm glad you are making it out today.  I hope you do well.

We are having the same hot and dry weather which I need at the farm to get some fence replaced from the flooding but don't need this next week for fishing.  We have had a trip planned with Mr and Mrs Bigfoot for a couple of months.  It will be fishing for specs all day every day as the heat doesn't bother him and kills me.  Maybe I'll sweat off some of those pounds my physician has been wanting me to loose. >:D

Well I made it home by noon. It was either that or melt! I ran the water bill up but it was all cold water. Jig Man if it helps I am now down to “Fashionably Plump”! ;D
Had a decent day; caught a few on swim jigs early but had to go diggin after the sun got up. I tied on a ½ 0z. bullet and a 4” sweet beaver and started hitting the weeds. Got a couple but the bite was really slow. I then had an epiphany; I tied on a pegged ¼ oz bullet and a dark stick-o and tossed it on top of the weeds. The weeds were thick enough that I would have to shake it to get it to sink. All the shaking and the eventual breaking through the weeds produced a lot of fish!

Had a game warden check me at the ramp. Remember I’m from KY fishing in Indiana. The first thing I did was show my license; He then wanted to see my life jackets; then he looks at my boat stickers and says Mr. Brackett these expired in April. I had to point out that they were good until April 2012! ::)

I'm glad you had a good outing Scott.  I'm not looking forward to standing all day every day this week in the heat.  The type of fishing we'll be doing is pitching bitty baits into tree tops and letting them fall back to the trunk.  We are using 9' rods and I'm not tall enough to do it sitting down.

That was interesting about the game warden.  Ours only are interested in the fishing license and the fish.  They leave the boat and life jackets to the Water Patrol.  It is interesting how things differ from state to state.

Glad you had a good day, Scott, especially with the temps we had yesterday.  Seems like we went from Winter right into Summer.
