Who's fishing this weekend??
« on: October 09, 2009, 09:45:07 AM »
I'm going out both days,..probably one for bass & the other for stripers.  The action's been hot for bass lately & lousy for the linesiders,..but we'll see how it goes!! 8)

Anyone else gonna make it out?

My Grandson, his dad, and myself are headed to lake Brashear around 10am. We have to wait till they get in from their morning deer hunt.
Good luck to all.

Not me I'm sorry to say.  I am stuck in a hot tub in Hot Springs AR.  Meanwhile, the insurance settlement feet dragging got me behind the schedule at the glass shop and they now say 3 week turn around instead of 1 because before I could commit 2 more boats came in ahead of me.

Good luck to those of you who go.

Oh the pain; sitting in a hot tub? Must be rough.  ;D
I am really becoming a believer in the wind from the East, fish bite the least theory. Another weekend, another cold front. The lake was way high and stained with the water temps around 63*. We had a lot of rain move through Thursday and Friday. I have a 5” rain gauge and it was overflowing!
The weather was 51* and overcast with a touch of a breeze. Most fish we saw on the depth finder were suspended around 15’ in 17’ of water.
We fished jigs (by the way G I will be sending another order soon!), worms, cranks, traps, spoons, spinner baits, etc. Lot’s of wood and rock but no fish. >:(

We were at my BIL's in Louisville since Friday afternoon (the wife and I both took Friday off), and we've only been home about a hour now.  Rained Friday, and quite a bit Saturday, but we did some fishing in his pond done.  No one got any bites at all.  The water was really muddied-up from the rain and the run-off from the steep bank at the end of the pond.   When we pulled into his driveway Friday we saw the pond water running over the small asphalt road that goes across the pond dam.  This was due to the 50' long, 8" drain pipe that runs under the road from the pond to the opposite side ravine being clogged.  Late Saturday afternoon, during a lull in the rain, my BIL donned his swim trunks and got in the cold water, and I passed him a length (30') of pvc piping he had glued together to use as a pipe clearing "tool".  He pushed a few times and then we heard the clog break free.  I was watching the discharge end of the drain and you should have seen the torrent of water that came through there after the clog (leaves, twigs, stricks, etc) broke through.  It was still barely trickling the next morning, and the pond was now back to it's original depth.  The water surface was now 3' below the roadway across the dam, where it should be.   We got up this morning and fished some more, and the sun was out, which made it nice. My wife caught about a 12" bass on a Red Shad Tiki Stick.  Only fish caught since we'd been there.   Today when I left there was a black & blue jig w/trailer (from Saturday), and a 7' Culprit Red Shad ribbon tail worm (from this morning) remaining in the same pine tree that I got snagged in both times  ::) .  Had to break the line both times because I couldn't get to the tree to free the lures.

Going to head out Saturday.  Morning temp will be around 35 to 40.  It will probably be a lot colder out on the water.

They are keeping rain/mist in our forecast for the weekend with the chance of a killing frost. OF COURSE the beginning of next week looks good; clear with temps in the upper 60”s! >:(

I have to mow the yard this weekend...I got a notice from the park.

Funny thing is i just mowed last week thinking it was my last time for the year I'll have to mow.

Should be fun trying to mow the yard in barely 50 degree weather.

Wouldn't mind fishing, but i don't see it happening this weekend...

Must have been on your casting and twanging hand :o. Sheesh, feller! You waited three days to go to the doc!? ...I'd have been there about 15 minutes afterwards. Those things usually don't present a warning shot like a snake does sometimes and KNOWING I got hit by one of them, hahaha, STAGE RIGHT! >>>>>> . You are gonna be ok aren't ya?
