Boat touch-up paint
« on: April 23, 2006, 06:29:29 PM »
Maybe I'm just picky, but I've been trying to obtain some touch-up paint for my boat for 2 summers.  I've got a couple of really good scratches (down to shiny aluminum) on the starboard gunwale from a nail on a courtesy dock.  I emailed Tracker a few times through their website (which stated they would forward it to a dealer in my area), and I've emailed the shop where I picked the boat up new at TMBC Nashville.  Last week when I was at the Clarksville BPS I asked the Tracker guy in the store about some and he said he was out of the blue.  Soooo....I emailed the Tracker manager at the BPS Nashville store last night about it.  Apparently you're supposed to get a free tube of touch-up but didn't get mine.  Hopefully he'll reply back to me.  I'm through whining now, and I feel much better, lol.   :)

I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll check my email when I get home to see if they've replied back.

Well, I heard from the Tracker manager at BPS Nashville, and he's getting the paint for me.  It's about $12 for a 4.5oz can, but it's automotive paint (which is what they use on the Trackers apparently).  He's going to arrange to mail it to me also, because it's a little bit of a trip (2.5 hrs one way).  I've found some chips on the trailer also, so I'll be able to touch them up also.  Gotta keep her looking perty   :)

Miracles never cease!  Rec'd a pkg from Tracker Marine the other day and it was a 12oz can of touch-up paint.  No invoice for payment due enclosed either.  I had pretty much given-up on getting it, as I wasn't going to pay $12 for a 4 oz can, so I stopped bothering them about it.  It's a spray can so I guess I'll have to spray a small amount in a can lid or something and apply the paint in the deep scratches with a q-tip or small artist brush and wipe away the excess, let it dry, then apply some wax.

Took time off from my summer projects 2 days ago and went out and started the motor to run some fuel through the system, as I haven't ran it in a couple of months it seems.  Also went to Lowe's and found some heat/sun/water resistant duct tape and patched the new tear in the boat cover (compliments of a recent storm).  That makes two duct tape patches on the cover now.  "You might be a redneck"...if you're boat cover has multiple duct tape patches on it    ::)   :)

Yesterday I spent 5 hrs doing yard work, cutting grass and weed wacking which whipped me good in the heat we're having.  Might get to go fishing one day   ::)

Uh WW, I just looked at the forecast for the next couple of days; You might just want to sit inside and admire your deck.
High: 100 deg.
Heat Index: 110 deg.

Scott,

We did exactly as suggested yesterday.   :)    Was going to wait until about 6pm last night when the deck is shaded by the house and do some staining....but decided to go to a movie instead   ;D .  We saw "Click" with Adam Sandler, and it's pretty funny.  A little different from his usual movies as this one has some serious moments also, and not just an hour and a half of slap-stick comedy.
