Got the steering fixed
« on: April 17, 2006, 08:32:54 AM »
Wow, what a difference.  Its like I have hydrolic steering.  So smooth and easy to turn.  Wow just wow. ;D

But now my switch on the back of the boat doesnt work for the trim.  I guess they knocked off a wire.  I will have to investigate it and repair it.  Its not worth hauling my boat all the way back to the dealer unless I cant figure it out.

replaced the old rusty steering cables with new teleflex ones.  Cost me 450 big ones but now I can turn right and left. ::)  With no hassle at all.

Found out today that when they replaced the cables they didnt hook up the pipe for the bilge or the trim switch on my outboard :tick  For what I paid them I'm not too happy about it.  But it would have cost me alot more to take it back then to just fix it myself.(gas and drive time)  So I fixed it all myself. :tick

Maybe I should send them a bill for $60/hr for Gman labor time. ::2

I like that idea. ;D

I would however let the big-guy at the shop know. Maybe just a call to him with a matter of fact tone, "just wanted to let you know" kinda thing. I know I wouldn't want that kind of work leaving my shop and customers looking elsewhere for the next repair.

I agree with Duster.  I'd give them a call in a freindly tone and let them know what they failed to do.  You are paying them to be competent and not forget to do things.
