Ice near drain hole
« on: February 11, 2007, 08:47:28 AM »
On my way out yesterday I noticed a circular patch of ice on the driveway directly beneath the drain hole of my boat.  Patch was about 8" diameter.  Upon close look I saw that there was drippage (is that a word?) coming from the drain hole.  Stuck my finger in the drain and there was a very thin patch of ice in the bilge near the drain.  The water must have got in there when my flimsy cover ripped (before I put the tarp over the boat) during one of those bad rain storms.  Boat is tilted as far up as possible at the bow, so hopefully there's no damage.  The ice seems to be well below the bilge pump inside the stern, so it should be good to go.  When the weather breaks (much warmer) I'm going to build that pvc cover support frame, so as to eliminate the current stupid single pole support from falling over.

Drippage. I typed that word into my spell check and it didn?t like it!
I have a little water in the bathtub boat, but that?s normal. Nothing in there to freeze.

Apparently you are going to be a couple of degrees warmer than us. I have some outside work going on today so 42* won?t feel bad, but they have raised the wind speed! So much for warmer.

Yep, it's that dang windchill that whoops me.  The sunshine just gives me a false sense of security thinkng it's warm, until I step outside   :o

I hear ice near your drain hole is a painful affliction and drippage is never a good sign ... take two aspirins and call me in the morning ... as for the boat it should be OK ...

ah thats nothing.  I've had about 2" of ice under the console where the cover leaked and the boat still fished.  As long as you remember the drain plug your all right. ;D
