Project beautyful bass boat
« on: June 09, 2006, 09:23:29 PM »
I have been saving pictures for my computer and one of the catogories is pictures of guys on AAFF bass boats.

I know very little about big, fancy rigs but I can tell you for me the one I want to own is Waterwings Tracker, beautiful boat and I love the color, the only better color would be red because my truck is red.

Congrat's on a beautyfull boat WW  it is so clean and perfect.
It was difficult to make a deciesion on which one I liked the best.

I would like to see more pictures of your guys bass boats.

George

Boy I can really go from one extreme to another.

I know wish I owned both of them.
That is the answer.

George,

Thanks for the compliment on the boat.   I've only had it on the water once this season so far.  Been busy the past few days figuring material for a deck addition, so it looks like I may not get on the water any time soon.  Once the material is delivered I'll be in the back yard sawing and nailing wood, then in two weeks from today I leave for 8 days in TN to teach at our annual leadership academy for the students.  Usually about 120 of them there   :o , then home to continue work on the deck.

WW I just removed my deck and put in a patio.

I have one suggestion for you, it is a mistake that I did.

Here it is do not  and I repeat do not nail your deck boards in place big mistake, that is what I did.

Use deck screws 3  or  4  in.  Galvanized with a attachment on your drill to drive them in, you may say why well here is why after many years of weathering my deck need some board replaced it is very difficult when you nail the boards down, but screws can be removed by using attachment on drill and run drill in reverse.

I could not replace boards so removed deck and went to cement patio.

Scott,
Lol, yep, these summer projects are a butt whipper, with no time for leisurely diversions, then before we know it summer is over.

George,
I thought about using nails then decided to go with the deck screws, just for the reason you mentioned.  The existing deck, which is 16' x 10' is the original one put in in 1987, and they used 2" x 6" boards that are now warped and cracked.  They also used nails which tend to work themselves up occasionally.  Once I add the new deck to the original frame (I'm putting new wood on it), the deck will be 16' x 32', which will eliminate some grass I don't have to cut   :)

WW a friend of mine just put in a new deck.

This installation was nothing like I have ever seen.

Material was plastic formed like 2x6  with a grove on the back side.

After you install joices you nail 1 in gal. strips across the deck, then the plastic boards with grove in them snap onto the strip, no water proofing , or paint of deck ever. and never rottens, cracks, or warps.

He said cost is double for this type of Material but he is young and will be around for a long time to enjoy ....

I had some energy type windows put in my house one were made of alum, and the other plastic, alum cost more , but I put in plastic , installer said plastic wound last about 25 years, that means when it is time to replace these windows, I will be 90 years old.( do not think so )  cost was double.

WW also forgot I really like building decks, if I only live closer to you.

You are so lucky sawing, painting , waterproofing and screwing. ::2 ::2 ::2 ::2

Could not help myself on that last word.
