Time to winterize
« on: September 20, 2006, 09:26:53 PM »
Well, with the weather turning, and my busy weekend schedule, it looks as though it's time for me to winterize the boat and put her to sleep for the upcoming winter.   Not gonna be too big a deal, as I haven't had it in the water since May   ::)

Lol, if my garage was about a foot deeper I could get it in there.  Just my luck   :)

My weekend schedule won't support it, even though I'd like to get her out at least one more time, at least before it gets too cold.  I'm just not a winter person anymore as the cold just whoops me.  A few yrs ago we'd participate in the local Klondike Derby with the Scouts.  It was in January and I distinctly recall it being 19 degrees.  If it hadn't been for an Army extreme cold mountain sleeping bag I probably would have perished, lol.   :bite

Freeze out term brings back memories I also worked with Boy Scouts, and after reading your post Carter thought about my first freeze out, it snowed during the night about 4 inches and when we got up the next morning the boys were so excited and happy, and I was so misserable and uncomfortable and un happy.

Then the topper of that day was a 5 mile hike I think and when it was over and while we were sitting around camp fire discussing the day I informed every one that hike was not that bad, and one of the other scout leaders informed me wait till tomorrow that is when your musscles will feel it.He was correct about the next day forcast of musscle conditions I had was bad.

I was lucky and brought up the rear of the hiking group to make sure if anyone had problem or got lost, and I did not have to go as fast as the main group they ran I think 20 steps and then walked 20 steps, repeated this till end of hike.

Thanks for reminder memory of past with the boys, Carter you are in the best time of life with your boys so take the time and enjoy it.

Georges
