6/09/07--6 lber on a new bait
« on: June 09, 2007, 03:05:08 PM »
Tried the boat in the bigger pond but no bites so after an hour and a half, I headed back up to the smaller, walk-around pond.  95 degrees F air temps, light breeze, very few clouds and bright sunshine made for a low bite-to-cast ratio for sure.

I tried my usual group of baits including a Chatterbait type bait made by  TC Custom Baits.   Tim named them "Southern Shakers".  Tried a 1/2 oz all-chartruese one and caught two 1 lbers.  Then I switched over to a 3/8 oz, White/chartreuse one and hooked a 6 lber from the eastern bank.  Sorry for all the dirt but it's a little tough getting the heavier Bass up the muddy bank.  Had a few other bites on that same bait but only hooked those three but I'll take that result from a new bait for 4 hours of Bassin'.

Thanks y'all.  I caught a 2/10, a 3/6, and some keepers today on that same bait.  They come with a narrow gauge Gammy hook that goes right through a Bass's head bone easily.
