7/30/06--One bite, one Bass
« on: July 30, 2006, 01:36:43 PM »
Caught a few dinks at my boss's pond yesterday but nothing worthy of a pic

Headed down to the Ocmulgee Public Fishing Area today with showers off-and-on and thunderstorms threatening with some wind.  Temps cooled off to the 70s after rain yesterday.

Tried a shallow and a deep cr/bait, wacky-rigged Senko, T-rigged Paca Craw, and a Zoom Vibra-tail worm all to no avail in the upper end and along the creek channel.

Headed up the lake(106 acres but low water level) and went into a shallow cove; throwing the shallow cr/bait and then the T-rigged Zoom.  In 3' of water I felt weight and set the hook.  Sure enough, she(there are only female F1 Bass in this 2 year old lake) had me wrapped around some underwater wood.  I felt her surge as I tried to undo the snag but was having no luck.  Back and forth with the rod and the boat until about 5 minutes later, she came off of the wood and into the boat

Surprisingly, the 8lb Seaguar Invisix line held and the GY sugoi hook kept her on for all that time.

 4lbs, 9ozs--21"

 Close-up

 Again

Nice fish Dan.
It would have taken three of mine yesterday or two of mine today to equal that one of yours!

Thanks everyone.

George:  It's back into the 90s here today.  The cloudiness and the showers offered a short relief from the heat but I don't complain about the heat as I HATE cold weather ;D.

What a chunk Dan! Good story. I need to gain that kind of confidence and patience.

What's F1 mean?

Just in case y'all missed her, here's the first one I caught there.  She didn't tie me up on wood but man, she fought hard ;D.  I'm glad I was using a little more stout tackle for her ;).
