7/7/7--Bad news--Good news--Wiggle Rig 5 lber
« on: July 07, 2007, 02:45:04 PM »
Got to my boss's pond and started throwing a little topwater bait and caught 2 keepers.  Looked up the pond and there's a jonboat with two people in it.  Didn't look like they were fishing and as they got closer, I saw one was running the trolling motor while the other was dumping what I later found out was fertilizer into the pond.  They commenced to run right up where I was and that ended my fishing there.

Went up to the upper end and caught two dinks and then came back to the deeper end and saw they'd finished fertilizing and had pulled the jonboat out of the water.  Threw a Wiggle Rig/Speed Worm out from the bank and caught a 2 lber.  Tried it again and a nice 5 lber picked it up off of the pond's bottom.

Caught 3 or 4 more dinks and left for home, happy for the 5 lber.

Nice! Very nice fish, LR.

About the fertilizing...It'll depend on what and how much they dropped overboard as to how it will effect the fish. It probbly wont hender your fishing to much. Plus, it wont last but a couple of days anyway.

Tight lines Sir!

Bb:  I should have said it was aquatic fertilizer not ground/plant fertilizer.  It was recommended as one thing to do to enhance the adding of weight to the Bass as the fertilizer 'travels' through the food chain.

J4f:  Yes, that is a fountain and you are the first to ask about it ;D.  The owner had it installed several months ago and thankfully so as we have been going through a drought season recently though we have now gotten 4-6" of rain.  There is a pump behind the fountain which pumps water out of a nearby spring.

Haha,..that's cool,..have you ever "fished the fountain" when it was on?....Just wondering if maybe it would attract fish?
