How did you catch it?

Yum 9" Houdini  Kistler flipping stick/20# fluoro,.......twitch, twitch, pause! ;)  No subtleness in the strike either,..sometimes they just peck or slap at the bait,..but when they take it, the flipping stick just all of a sudden doubles over!! 8)

This time of year, the stripers enter the river to feed on spawning alewifes.  The silouette of the Houdini's is almost a perfect match so it is the bait of choice in this neck of the woods!  The stripers try to push the alewifes up onto the shallow flats of the river where they can easily run them down,...so the game plan is just to drift the flats casting as you go!  That one was caught in about 3 feet of water!
I was there, fishing the same bait on Sunday when one of them got away by snapping the hefty 9/0 hook that comes with the baits! :o :o
