The Clean Water Partnership of Alabama, Black Warrior River Lower Basin will host the first annual Lake Tuscaloosa Watershed Festival on Friday, May 6, 2011. The festival will run in conjunction with the City of Tuscaloosa Water Department's Lakes Division’s third annual “Clean Our Lake Day” on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
The Lake Tuscaloosa Watershed Festival will be held from 9:00am to 4:30pm and will be both educational and informative. An educational portion will be geared toward students and will run from 9:00am until 2:00pm. This will include several educational activities and a presentation from Dr. Doug Phillips of Discovering Alabama. There will also be information available regarding ways to protect our lakes, water uses of our lakes, storm water pollution and erosion prevention methods. The general public is welcome to this informational festival.
The festival will be held at the Phelps Activity Center located above the dam on Lake Tuscaloosa. Various organizations are spearheading the event designed to educate the public about the water resource located in the North River watershed.
