Any locals interested in starting a multi-species club?
« on: June 11, 2008, 04:11:54 PM »
I'm thinking something like the following:

Each tournament you would get points for fish caught.
Most points win, next highest 2nd and so on.

Species include:

Black Bass
Sunfish (or Panfish other than Crappie (i.e. Bream, Bluegill, Shellcraker, Rock Bass, etc)
Catfish
Crappie

Bass - Limit 3 per boat
10"-13" -  *  points
13"-16" -  *  points
16"-19" -  *  points
19" and up -  *  points

Sunfish - Limit 3 per boat
6"-7" -  *  points
7"-8" -  *  points
8"-up  *  points

Catfish - Limit 3 per boat
10"-13" -  *  points
13"-16" -  *  points
16"-19" -  *  points
19" and up -  *  points

Crappie - Limit 3 per boat
9"-10" -  *  points
10"-11" -  *  points
11"- up -  *  points

Bonus Points:  limit of 2 species * points
limit of 3 species * points
limit of all 4 species * points

Details would have to be worked out, but you get the idea.

I think it would be fun, and when the bass aren't biting at least you can go catch a bluegill or a cat.

We could do a test tournament if we can get a few boats interested.

What limits would be put on baits as far as live bait is concerned?

Live bait would have to be allowed I would think.

Most other species tournaments I have witnessed other than bass allow live bait.

So I guess bring your crickets, minnows, and stinkbait :)

Although not impossible, I think it would be hard to target catfish with artificials.

I could do live crawfish for bass!! Man it's been a long time since I've done that! ;D

One rod(pole) at a time, correct? Rod(pole) length? If you allowed  flyrods and cane poles(8ft.+) that would also allow for jigger-poles, well, unless specified I guess!?

We fished with crawfish caught right out of a little pond next to the big one down at Lakeview Acres.
