JSB, I forgot to ask you...Did you get to use the drop-shot rig? How'd you do with it?

We wound up catching 4 or 5 of our fish (before noon) drop-shotting(Vertical !!). While this is not the first time for me to use it, it was the first time for me to use it on a river system, albeit a resevoir. Initially I used it in a buddy's pond to get the hang of it. I thoroughly enjoyed my day on the water today, except we did not win ;D.

Congrats Shannon and Alan!

Hope you get your boat problems resolved soon, Shannon!

Later,

PP

Oh, thanks for letting us bug-out to get back to the lower end! That storm that you heard(I guess you heard it) back down that way, had not too long gone by once we got down there. Anywho, thanks!

After about 10am I couldn't wait for 2 to arrive.   Ellis and I were cooking.

I think we could of handled it is we were catching fish but they were far and few between.

Someone was sitting on my early spot so we had to sorta work around him.  Still caught fish there though just of no size.

I caught one fish on the vertical drop shot up at the old dam.

Hey Buzz, I did not use the drop-shot. I caught 2 early fish on a frog and missed another good fish on it.  We left and went up to the old dam but stopped right before we got there cause there were about 5 boats sitting on it so we fished the 2 islands just below there and caught a couple of small spots "8 inchers" on a spinnerbait. We left and went back down to another small point just up from the landing and caught another short fish and then we went back to the landing at 8:15 and stayed there the rest of the day. My boat problems were from lack of running my boat. I ran 2 livewells and 2 depth finders from 8:15 until 1:45 plus I left a light on the front of the boat so it ran my cranking battery down. All of our fish came from around the landing.

By the way, I did have drop-shot tied on a spinning reel and I was real tempted to cut it off and tie on a beetle spin and catch some of those bluegill that were everywhere. ;D

You could of put on a small crappie grub and caught those bluegills on that drop-shot rig ;D I had MANY gills playing tug with the finesse worm when we were fishing some of the shaded rocky edges and or grass edges.

The boat on the far left up there, that was us ::2.  We were wanting over by the right-side bouy first off but there were 3 or 4 boats on that side most all morning. All the other structure spots in the mid-section of it were taken too, so we settled for over there and made the best of it. The 4-5 we caught drop-shotting were at least 14' deep. I cast it for a while but never caught one casting it. All 4-5 fish came on vertical shotting.
