Humminbird Discounts
« on: March 05, 2008, 04:07:11 PM »
Members,

Effective immediately - No VIP discounted pricing purchases will be allowed on Humminbird Products.
I just received this from Al Redding.
The following is referring to the Alabama Area not just our area.

Per Humminbird:
We have received calls from (4) different dealers, a very reputable distributor and a couple of local reps in your area stating that individuals from the AL Bass Federation have been doing the following:

And so what about the boasting?   I thought that was a TBF member privilege.

I have told many people that being a member of the TBF would allow them the discounts.  That's a strong recruiting tool.   I didn't know it was a secret :)

That makes no sense at all unless it was something that wasnt supposed to be happening.

Now the re-selling part I can understand.

It does, but some companies will not let you advertise a lower price, even if you sell for less.   I ran into that when I sold Luggage on the Internet.

loomis and shimano do the same thing.  They say you sell for x amount if you dont you dont sell for loomis or shimano.  I think diawa is like that on alot of their reels and several other companies.

I guess it's the same deal that Tracker does with their package pricing for boats.

Jackie,

This was not a TBF discount, but rather a contract that Al Redding worked out with Humminbird.
We still get Minnkota discounts for now.

Good fishing,
Ellis

Ahh.    But it sounds like Hummingbird reneging on their deal to me, but then again HB does have to protect their distributors.

I see this happening a lot in my business as a purchasing agent, today as a matter of fact on a $150,000 purchase I was making!
