July 14th Tournament
« on: July 10, 2007, 09:12:37 AM »
Is on the Gainesville Pool out of the Vienna access area.

For those of you who have not been or memories fail:  Take 82 West to 86 West to Carrollton and 17 South to Aliceville and take a left onto 14 (I'm not sure if this is East or West ? in reality it is south, but being an even numbered road it will not be designated as such).  About 3.6 miles, turn Right onto CR 13 (watch the railroad crossing, it's a rough one).  Approximately 5.6 mile in the road takes a hard left and turns to dirt; you enter the access area by continuing straight.  It is an Army Corps $3 ramp ? it is a double (in theory).

For you "as the crow flies" folks ? just after leaving Northport, take CR 140 (I think this is aka old 82) to the four way stop in Coker.  Turn left onto Westwood School Rd, which becomes Romulus Rd.  Stay on Romulus until it ends at CR 2 (Benavola), turn left, and follow it until it ends at Rt 14 south of Aliceville and about 1 mile north of CR 13.  Two things to watch here ? the first few miles at the county line the road is rough and more importantly, if the road is wet, the shiny surfaces on CR 2 is like ice!  A buddy of mine got his truck and boat sideways at about 50 mph one mourning coming back for duck hunting.

Either way, it is about 50 minutes from the Northport Walmart (at Bob speed).  For those of you on the south of town, you may prefer the highway ? Take Exit 40 off 20/59 and turn right onto Rt 14.  About 5 miles up the road, 14 turns right ? it is another 15 miles to CR 13 (and you would turn left).

Hope to see you all there.

Are there any open seats?  Are there any members in need of a seat?  We had few people miss because of boat troubles and few members fish alone - it would be good if folks hook up.

As of this moment, I do not have a partner for Saturday. I have someone that I was going to ask or either fish alone, but if there is a non-boater that would like to fish, we can get together.  I don't know alot about Vienna, I have only fished there once in my life so don't expect much.  :-[

Looks like I will be filling in for Strick as host.  Sunrise is listed as 5:53, so safe light should occur no later than 5:23 and could be earlier if the sky is clear.  Let's have all boats in the water by 5:10.  Weather holds the promise of showers and a small threat of thunderstorms, but temperatures should be safe for a normal weigh-in time.

Hope to see everyone there.
