New season discussions...
« on: November 10, 2006, 09:33:53 AM »
Just posting this topic so we can list items that we need to discuss at the pre-season meeting, and hopefully it will serve as a reminder.     So just post anything you can think of here and I will add it to the list.

Lakes/ramps/dates of each tournament.

I think we should consider adding Bankhead lake out of Franklin Ferry Marina to replace Lock 7 (althought I've learned some great spots there this year).  You can get there from either side (Down Rt 6 from Rt69 side or up Rt 21 from the T-town side)

I will drive up there and check it out before the January meeting.

I would like to talk about and consider setting the Classic lake earlier, and then designating an off limits time.

We might consider allowing someone to still be able to be eligible for the classic even if they miss the tournaments, as long as they pay the tournament fee in advance of the tournament.  (which would be the complete boat fee, which this year would be $20)

i agree with your last post. there still adding to the pot.
if we expand greatly, we could have a qualification based on rank.

I'm just passing along some comments and suggestions, they arent particularly mine, nor anything wrong with them just something to think about or discuss later.   ....But the comment on the Classic was made several times by others.

From now on lets not post comments in this thread, start a new one based on the topic so it will be easier to pick out the issues or suggestions in Jan.

Accepting or rejecting revisions to the bylaws.  (These changes are made by the executive committee and brought to the club for approval)

There are a few things that we fixed on the fly (as directed by the bylaws) and they need to be made permanent.  We changed the Classic format by consensus vote of the membership and those changes should be incorporated into the bylaws.

i say we fish in feb. on the fourth week, the march on the third week and then switch to the second week as we have been doing.

Put in at Vienna on Sunday (scouting ducks).  It was real bad - real shallow, full of wood and the concreate on the left side was all fallen in (I think worse than when we were there).  We may want to consider changing to a different Gainesville access point (although it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if we dropped Gainesville all together).

Here are the spots the Army Corp lists for Gainesville Lake:  Ringo Bluff Access Area, Cochrane Recreation Area, Vienna Access Area, S.W. Taylor Access Area, Riverside Access Area, Sumter Recreation Area, Heflin Access Area (but this is lower pool).

This link as a map that shows the location of the ramps:  http://tenntom.sam.usace.army.mil/Maps.html

Riverside is at west green. The landing is really out in the boonies with little to no usage by big bass rigs. Too, zero security against theft. It really out there.

Funny thing, the landing itself is top notch and with a decent sized parking area, but (as stated above)just a mess to get to. Very long, rutted, dirt, logging road type access road. It turns to pavement right before the parking area.

Sumter Landing is more "populated" and safer I think, and would seem the wiser choice of the two, in that area. Eventhough, it's on the Mississippi side of the river. A few more miles for sure, but I would feel better.

Cochrane is similar to vienna. Except It has a huge camping park area there.

The others i've not been to.
