Just wanted to let everyone know that the L & L solo trail will be putting in at Franklin Ferry Saturday also. There will be approx. 25 boats. This not a double ramp so we need to be early so we can beat these guys out.

How many trailers do you think the landing can hold?

I'm guessing 20 at the most and total that puts us right about 40.

It is going to be a mess with 40. The landing can hold 20 to 25 boats probably. The big problem is the parking lot is gravel with no stripes and people end up parking in the way before it fills up. Also the ramp is bad so it is slow putting in boats.

Since we allow motoring to the blast off site, people could always put in at Quinns and motor over to FF.

That is probably what we will do. Is switching to Quinns not an option?

Drove over there a few weeks ago, it is very steep (drive in) with little space.

No chance.

I just thought it might be better than fighting the crowd. I put my boat in this year and didn't have any problems and I think Brian and Archie have used that ramp before.

I have been there with a 35+ boat tournament, and a lot of us parked up in the large grassy area on the left of the road leading down to the landing. That wasn't too bad, but lining up and taking out was a little crazy. Maybe it won't get out of hand Saturday.

I don't think we have put in at Quinn's but it does look pretty close to FF.  Would be risky to try to move landings unless we could get in touch with everyone else.  I'll defer that to the higher authorities to decide.  We did put in at some little landing down near the dam, but I would not recommend using it......ever.  think we stumbled across it by accident looking for another landing.  anyway, wanted to let everyone know ahead of time so that they are not surprised Saturday that the hosts (Archie and I) will most likely choose to have weigh in at 2:00 if the temps continue to be in the 90's.  will be a long day anyhow.  getting an early start so fishing time won't be cut too short from the norm, if any.

once again, our plans to prefish/practice have been foiled.  guess we'll show up and donate again.  My job is getting in the way of my fishing.  i need a new job.

Bob, I think i saw a post of yours on bassfishinghomepage the other day.  If it was you, sounds like you had a tough time up there a couple of weeks ago.  having any better luck lately?

Been traveling - my national professional meetings were in Boston last week (left two Saturday's ago) and this week I visiting my Dad on Cape Cod.  Haven't even picked up a fishing pole in days - starting to twitch.  We did have a tough time finding anything of size - left fish twice (because it was practice and we were checking out lots areas) but after about 9 am it was tough.  Short of the long story - haven't practiced since then.  In our case, the "good practice - bad tournament" jinx is not in place.

Have you been out?  Any luck?

On the ramp thing - we are going to stay with FF - Quinn's is usable on an individual basis, but I did not see how even 10 boats would use that ramp under a tournament type situation.

No prob.  You may have seen Archie up there in my boat.  He sometimes takes the boat and prefishes when I can't make it.  Unfortunately, I think he gets to use it more than I do.  He needs to be practicing today, but took off to play golf in a tournament instead.  Slacker.

Noticed that the high is only in the 80's for Saturday, but I still think we will have the weigh in at 2:00 unless the L&L trail moves thiers.  Will cut down on the congestion when trying to take out.

What are the rules on taking out before weighing in?  I think it would be wise for everyone that can to go ahead and take out before the other tournament group starts coming in.  comments?

I concur on both the time and taking out.

Both are decided by the host by the way.  Still need one for Holt!!

By the way I fished a tournament this past Saturday and we blasted off at 5:06 am (I think the approx. safe light is 5:10 on the schedule) so be ready so we can beat the other guys.... ;D

I just checked - L&L weigh in is at 3 PM.

The host can can shorten the tournament by up to one hour.

I don't think that 2 PM is necessary.  If we were to change our to avoid ramp congestion, I would suggest 2:30.

Brain/Archie - if you have any questions on this or any other hosting type stuff, just give me a call here at work (348-4167).

The local NOAA weather discussion page is unavailable at the moment, but I had not heard of any severe weather warning, so I don't think that will be a problem, although we may be dodging thunderstorms.  Thunderstorms allow a suspension of the no leaving the boat rule.

Latest for NOAA - no indication of severe weather (Just WET!)

THE MAIN FOCUS IN THE LONG TERM FORECAST IS THE FRONTAL PASSAGE
DURING THE DAY ON SATURDAY. MODELS ARE SUGGESTING THAT SATURDAY
MAY BE MORE OF A WASHOUT THAN FIRST ANTICIPATED. LOOKS LIKE
EVERYONE ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA WILL HAVE A BETTER THAN AVERAGE
SHOT AT AN AFTERNOON RAIN SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM
