« on: April 05, 2008, 05:35:29 PM »
Congrats Buzzbait (Paul Perry) with 3rd place and big fish!!!

Fine job you did out in the rain and wind against the other 115 or so contestants.

And you better get that little girl a bouncy ball!!

Also congrats to Chris Reynolds who also brought home a check.  (No sure of the place though).

Great tournament Ellis!

I would like to thank our team members for the great effort they put forth.

Chris, congrats on the check! and hope your dad can overcome what took place. I know you two, as well as Jeremy, are tough as nails on the lake and would like to have seen what you did. Maybe we'll do better next time.(I have not heard what happened to Jeremy, hope everything is ok) Again, as a team effort, thank you for you participation and effort you put into it.

Guys, I had a real good partner, which helped. Unforunately he did not quailify :( I caught my last keeper, which was a little chunk spotted bass at 2:05, but at 12:58 or so when I caught my 4th keeper my partner and I realized(or was hopeful in the event if I caught my fifth one) that I had a legitimate chance in winning this thing considering the overall slow spotted-bass bite and size for the day. However, in fishing in general, I was not positive that I would, which I of course did not, near the end. I placed third but only .59 lbs.?? out of first place ;D. I did get big fish honors as well, which was 5.98 lbs. :o for a total of 11.56 lbs. I was thinking prior to the event that it would probably take a larger than avg. bag to win this event but that is not the way it unfolded. I am elated to say the least considering my tight circle in the recent past.

Oh, and btw...that's TWO bouncy balls ;D

Later!

Well actually I don't see Troy's name in the top 50 on the Tuscaloosa News.
http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20080406/NEWS/864742120/1015/NEWS

But wait I do see him on the ABF list of State qualifiers.    http://www.albassfed.org/State.htm

So is for sure qualified Ellis?

I have had some questions about the State Tournament Qualifiers.
The top 50 of each qualifier go to the State Tournament.
If anglers in the top 50 have already quailifed then we go down the list until we get 50.

Lake Tuscaloosa Tournament had 14 angler who had already qualified at the Alabama River.
So anglers finishing 51-64 qualified for the State Tournament.

Congratulation to all,
Ellis

My dad has a lakehouse on Smith and i plan on spending a good bit of time up there this summer.  Where does the tournament blast off from?  the house is on the Jasper side straight across from Clear Creek.  I've never really done much up there but a FLW tournament was held over there this past weekend and i think they had some big sacks.  closer to the tournament, we need to discuss where you guys and possibly I have been catching fish.

I bought a map of Eufaula AND Smith last night. I already had one of Guntersville from when I took the little two-man up there. Don't laugh too hard...I caught a few fish! ;D, and two nice ones to boot!

Don't forget, Smith has a slot limit. You can keep 12-13" and above 15" fish.

What is the size limits if any on Eufaula? Anybody?

Thanks

Buzzbait,

Eufaula....

At one time it was 16 inch.
I believe it was changed to 14 in.

Eufaula is a lot easier to run with a GPS.
There are bouys marking the main channel.
Your boat will handle the waves fine...if the wind gets up.
I can show you some spots to fish, if you like.

I would highly appreciate that Ellis. However, I'm not absolutely positive that I can go at this moment...I probably need to act as if I were though, just in case.

Should I meet you or discuss it over wire somehow.

PP

(1) Oh, I have a question about AOY within the Q's and the remaining 6 spots. If I fish the remaining Q's, depending on the numbers of anglers continueing the cycle, what are my chances(I wonder)of being in the top 6-8(or higher) by the end of this thing(remaining top 6 to fill the 12 man team)? I heard alot of anglers say that they'd try at the "G" and not Eufaula, ect.. Not that I can, just "If". I stand in 58th right now, so...

(2) The short cut version would be just to fish Smith and hope for the best wouldn't it!?   I think I'm missing something??

here, e-mail, call...whatever would like Eliis

Thanks!

Bob, I didn't get your e-mails til today, sorry.

Dusty, from the news, said he took 150 pictures(wow)...he sent me 5 today...I now know why they used the one they used, lol.

If you finish in the top 3 in the remaining ones I bet you would have a good chance :)
