Third Annual NBC Two Lure Tournament
« on: February 15, 2011, 01:56:17 PM »
Due to the response that this tournament has gotten, we are gonna do it again. We need to decide where it will be held and when. Normally we do it the 3rd weekend in May which will be the 21st. Kelly has proposed that we have a tournament on Guntersville the 28th plus we are fishing the 4th of June at bankhead. That is 4 weekends in a row with no room to prefish for any of them. So, what does everyone want to do. It doesn't matter to me. Please post your thoughts so we can decide on which way to procede and on where you want to have the Two Lure. Also please post in Kelly's thread if you are interested in fishing Guntersville. We need to decide soon so Bob can get us the necessary permits.

For you new members, this is a fun tournament. You are only allowed two rods, two reels and two lures. I will go into more details a little later when we decide on a location and date. The cost is $20 per boat and guests are allowed and it doesn't count against you for the regular year.

That date sounds good to me. I really don't care what body of water we have it on. I would say that either Oliver Pool/Riverside or the Lake is fine with me.

I would say have it at guntersville, but there is no way that would work. Culling 3 pounders would wear on you with 2 lures!!!!

Since May is pretty full right now, what does everyone think about April 30. Please post your thoughts... Remember guys, this is a fun tournament. This is not a points tournament and won't count against you if you bring a guest. Last year we had several father/child teams and we probably will again.

April 30th seems like a great time - let's make this happen.  Tell me what lake and ramp and I'll see if I can get a permit.

Let's throw the usual suspects in the pot. Let's go with Lake T, Oliver Pool (Riverview), or any other suggestion that anyone may have. We need to decide this week so Bob can get a permit. Please post comments or opinions...

It's no big deal but if it's on the 30th I won't be able to make it. I am fishing the Marks tournament and it's scheduled for that day.

Does the city give permits for Lake Nichol?  The 30th sounds like a great time to have it.

Well guys, I was trying to keep is located close to Northport/Tuscaloosa. I would much rather have it at Pickensville or Gainesville since that is in my backyard  ;D but I was trying to keep it close for most everyone. Some of those places is over an hour drive for me and as high as gas is getting, I would rather keep it close as possible. Is everyone is ok with Lake T out of binion creek?

Yes sir, I am!  ...local(persay), time of year wont be too shabby for fishing, launch site will welcome a friendly/family setting(large dock(s), relatively flat area, shed over your head, etc.) whatever date you set it, i will try to be there.

Lake Nichol sounds good, not to far not to big, will help on gas.  Ramp and parking is very limited

Now is this 2 lures; one worm, one spinner bait or 2 types of lure; a bag of worms and a handful of spinnerbaits?

It is 2 lures. It can be 2 crankbaits, a crankbait and a spinnerbait, a spinnerbait and 1 pack of plastics with one hook, one weight etc or 2 packs of plastics with 2 hooks, 2 weights.  Basically you can only have 2 baits and 2 rods and 2 reels.

This sounds interesting but I don't now why i think i'd run out of lures.  I'd happy with 2 bites.  Sounds like a good time!

It's the most fun fishing tournament I've ever fished in but the nerve racking part is trying to figure out what two lures to use. It can cause a lot of indecision the week before the tournament.

Back to the original statement....I hope we do it every year! I know my daughter and i both enjoyed it and it is indeed a fun tournament overall, eventhough i've only actually fished one of them to date.

Thanks guys!

This is the tournament that I most look forward to each year. I hate that I will have to miss it this year but you can BET that I will not miss another one!!
