I went to Vienna Landing yesterday for a little while. The only thing different about the launch area was that someone/something had burnt the bathroom on top of the hill down. You can still go up and down the stairs, they weren't bothered. Gonna be interesting that for sure!

It was gone back before Christmas. I'm surprised that they haven't started building it back yet. They do have a portable down there so you don't have to find a tree. ;D

Hmm, I did not see the portable?!

In my best guess, The bathhouse either was struck by lightning or it was burnt to the ground by some idiot!

You sure it wasn't just there for that T you fished over there?

Side note: If we're ever in the position that we ahve to change landings for some reason, I think Cochran or Sumter County Landing would be the next easiest ones to get to, eventhough there would be a little extra driving. I don't ever want to go back to West Greene(Riverside) Landing, unless they pave the thing all the way through, which I know they probably wont ever do!

Did you do any good?...I stumble upon 5

Later!

I hunted down there several times over the winter and it was down there. It was also down there when me and Ellis went fishing a month or so ago. That was the last time I was down there so they may have removed it. It was sitting right in front of the old bathroom.

They closed the West Greene landing a while back. I was actually fishing Monday in the slough that the landing is in and it is all clogged up and there hasn't been a boat launched from that landing in a long time. Caught a couple.

I went down to Vienna Landing today to check it out.  The pier for this landing is somewhat small.  The landing is right on the river and with rising water from recent rains, launching and especially loading your boat is somewhat of a challenge with the fast current of the river.  This could be even more difficult with 15 to 20 boats trying to do this at the same time.  I highly recommend changing the launch site to Cochran Landing for the upcoming tournament on April 12th.  This landing is not directly on the river which should allow a more organized blast off and return for our tournament.  Please consider the change.  Thanks, Robert

According to the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, the river has already crested at Bevil Lock and Dam and is falling. The current river level at the Bevil tailrace is 116.03 and 110 to 111 is normal. The river will be back to normal by Saturday so there shouldn't be a big problem with current. The problem with changing landings is we don't have a permit for any other landing and Vienna is about mid way between the locks and so it is about the same distance if someone is fishing on the upper end or the lower end. Just my opinion.

Hey Guys,
I was at the Cabin down there from Friday until late this evening and I don't think it's going to be a problem. By guaging on our pier, the water came up about 18" Friday night into Saturday evening when it crested and by this evening it had dropped about 6" to 8". I think it'll be completely back to normal pool by Saturday.....hopefully not ;)

It fell at least 6" on Sunday (maybe a foot) - the dock was covered at 6 AM but was usable (if covered with mud) at 3.

The river level is back to normal. It was at 109.78 as of 7:00am this morning. I did not see any trash in the river yesterday. There was a little scattered water hyacinth but that was about it. However the river was very rough due to the winds. Also they were pulling a lot of water yesterday I guess to make room for the rain we are to get today. See everyone in the morning.

Looks like the forecast is going to be a lot warmer tomorrow morning according to Weather.com.

Shannon don't forget your boat :)   (Your cousin told me you went fishing and when you got there all you had was the trailer :) )

He talks too much. Actually it was as much his fault as it was mine. And it was his boat. I just happened to be pulling it. And by the way, we only made it a few miles before I realized the boat was not back there. It was still one of the funniest moments in my life.

This was his son actually I was talking to (forgot his name, about 19-20 years old).  He came and hauled off my old junker boat yesterday for me.

That would be Alan. He is 18. I tried to get him to fish with us this year. What kind of boat was it?
