Bass Lake
« on: July 24, 2011, 11:38:58 AM »
I have a pounding headache this morning and feel, not-so-good. All the flying we did on the way back has me holding on to things this morning  :whew. We were on vacation this past week, where we went to Yosemite National Park in CA. We were in the park the day that the 3 people went over the 317 foot(drop), Vernal Fall. On our last day, prior to our flight back to Alabama, we went riding around to burn some time before we headed out of town, and wound up at Bass Lake. Although we didn't have time to do the boat rental/fishing thing, we gazed from shore the locally popular lake for a littlw while. I spoke with a fellow that passed by on his way down the hillside to the "beach" (solid rock and boulders along the shoreline   :shrug :scratch). He said there were LM bass, SM bass, 2 kinds of trout, crappie and bream in the lake that he knew of, eventhough he did not fish very often. I only saw one bass boat fishing out in the middle while we were there and only saw one fish caught(too far away to tell what it was) by a young man on an obvious party boat (w/guide). Knowing what was in there, reeally made me lick my lips for a chance at them  ;D. Hindsight being what it is, if i had time to do so, i most likely would've rented a small boat and fished(CA fishing Lic. required!). Overall, the park trip was awesome.

Sounds awesome ! Glad you had a great time.  I never really get to fish when I'm on vacation with the wife.  Hope your headache has gone away by now.

Glad you had a good time. I always try to fish at least once in each state I travel to.

Yes, I'm feeling much better now since i've had some time on the ground. Flying has never bothered me but this trip somehow did, or maybe it was a combination of things, dunno. All flights were smooth, so ......??

I wanted to fish, but she had our week planned out ahead of time so we went to certain places in the park each day. We drove close to 300 miles one day looking at things along the way. It pretty much took the alotted days time to see the things scheduled out except the day we left so i don't have a problem with the way it turned out eventhough i didn't get to fish. Pics to come btw, at some point i'll update the post or start a new one to show some things we saw.) We didn't see any bears, mountain lions or snakes the entire trip, but we did see a coyote on the way back from Glacier Point after dark the day we drove 300 miles. We also saw gobs of Mule Deer each day...and Chickeree(sp)(i think thats what they were called...little baby squirrels anyway).  We missed the sunset shots at Glacier Point by 10 mins.

back to the grind tomrrow.
