Everything's a blur
« on: September 30, 2011, 08:12:07 PM »
Well, I survived 2 consecutive days of my garage sale.  I've handled everything I own at least once.  One more day to go!  I can't believe how much accumulation has happened around here since 2002.  Got a little jingle in my pocket and some good news next week.

PS. On a side note, it was incredibly funny to see 3 different customers haggling over a box of rocks. I coulda sold plenty more. Whoddathunk?

Many years ago, when I was but a lad (1960’s), we owned a houseboat in Kansas. Now a houseboat in Kansas was a rare sight so when we would go out many a powerboat would come to see this large craft. At times people would circle us two or three times and really “Rock the Boat”! If they circled us more than my Father thought they should, he would start throwing a rock or two to chase them away. So that is why my Father had a bucket of rocks.

Now why did you have a box of rocks? ??? ::)

That's funny there Pondhopper.  Whoever owned this here postage stamp before me apparently collected rocks. there's lot's of em in several "rock gardens" scattered around here.  Whereabouts did ya float that houseboat here in Kansas?

Carter, it didn't take long.  I'm typing this out here on a new hp laptop I picked up at Best Buy tonight. I finally got   a setup that  hopefully will last me awhile. Now if only it would quit asking me for permission to install updates. Really? I've only had it turned on for 30 minutes.

PS. My mom came down to help with the sale and she pulled back a blanket I had pinned to the wall covering a few (15) rods and I thought she was going to stroke right on the spot. I didn't tell her those were just the ones I couldn't get in the boat.  ;)

UH, what’s the name of the big lake up near Manhattan? As I remember it was long and narrow and would get mighty rough in the wind. A friend and I were diving off of the top one windy day and we were a little slow heading back to the boat. Made for a long swim until my father realized he hadn’t heard us clamoring around for a bit. :o
There was another lake South West of Lawrence (maybe down around Wichita?); can’t remember the name of it either, but when it was built it was full of brush. Made water skiing interesting! ::)

Sounds like maybe you're referring to Tuttle Creek around Manhatten. Clinton Lake is close to Lawrence and it is just to the west and full of timber too. I never go to Tuttle Creek because it does not have a good bass population. I have fished Clinton several times but the flooded timber in 40' of water makes my stomach roll when I'm on plane so I don't fish there much either.  :'(
