Well I wasn’t the only one with the idea of showing up early; I had to sit in line, in the dark, waiting to launch. Wasn’t real crowded when I left. I stayed till 11 am, or put another way till 97*.
Can’t find anything over 3 pounds and not many of them. This springs high water levels really messed with the weed growth and that has thrown my swim jig fishing for a loop. Caught one.
Last time out they were on rocky ledges in 8 to 12’ this time they were on weed edges in 5 to 8’. Dropping a heavy jig or plastic in this stuff was really hard work. It still amazes me how small a fish can be and still bite a ¾ oz jig!
Water temps were still in the high 80’s and the water is really getting low. I have noticed an increase in the tin boat population. I guess the high gas prices are having an effect.
