How fishing got started?
« on: September 05, 2011, 09:09:37 PM »
So when I'm out by myself,I think of stupid stuff like this while wetting a line.....but now my curious mind wants to really know.So here's the question.....

How exactly did fishing get started? Who's bright idea was to get some line and a stick with a hook and try to catch fish?

Does anybody know seriously how fishing became "fishing"? Not sure where to put this stupid question so I put it here...LOL

Grim if memory serves me right I believe fishing first evolved with the fermented berry juice drinking Neanderthal man. See this guy Nog was married to this woman Ugh; Now after a wild night of berry juice drinking with the fellow cavemen Ugh thought Nog should help out with the cleaning of the cave. Ugh snuck out and hid down by the river. While laying there he got hungry and tried eating earthworms. He didn’t like the taste so he spit it out into the river and wouldn’t you know but a big fat bass swam up and ate the worm. The rest is history.
Side note;
Many of us still celebrate this milestone of fishing history every year. During the long, cold winters we add a bit of the sprits to our Ugh Nog to get us through the inevitable laundry list of cave cleaning chores that befall us because of a frozen river! ::)
