Red and I made the trip last week and looked at several lakes.  Three places really stood out for us:  Lake Martin,  Lake Dannelly, and Gulf Shores.  This was only my second trip to Alabama.  It really is a beautiful lake in the fall.

I sure hope that I can swing the trip this year.

Jig Man, I'm glad you got to look around down there. Don't know much about any of those lakes. B.A.S.S. has had events on Lake Martin I believe.  Whichever one you pick will probably be a pleasant experience since you are going down later when the fair weather crowd thins out.

Jig Man, Glad you guys had a safe round trip. Martin is a looker in my book for sure. Dannelly, about the same. Gulf Shores state park, I've fished it the least(3 times) and know very little about it. I've fished Martin the most. If you have any questions, holler. Maybe i can fill in a blank or two.
