1st 4-Spotted Fresh-Water-Redfish:
« on: September 19, 2008, 01:54:32 PM »
Yesterday My Fishin' Buddy & I went to Calaveras Lk. Here in So. SA. We were targeting Bass, & Kittys, Had the Cheese-Bait for the Kittys, & My plastics for the Bass.  Well, I managed to hook on to a critter that put a nice bend on my Acadia-M/H-7' Rod  :) The drag was singin' it's song for a few minuets, then when my buddy grabbed the net, it was a Redfish, 4-Spotted, 1st 1 ever for me*.  It took my 6" Finesse-Wrm, Watrmln. Puprple Swirl, on a GH-Finess 3/16oz.-Blk. 4/0 Hook, It was only 3-3/4#'s, 17", It Sure was fun*. & No Bass that day  :o "Take Care", L8r. grimlin:/Buzzbait: Reds put up a Great Fight, I'm more use to Salt-Water Reds, "Bull-Reds"*, these type Reds are more common to have 1 maybe 2 Spots, yet Fresh-Water Reds multiple Spots aren't uncommon  ;) "Thanx", "Take Care", L8r. James,"VATO LOCO"<;({}><  :crazy345 :drinks  8)

Alright James! I caught a redfish once back in '80 or '81. I was fishing a lagoon in Panama City Beach, Florida with chicken livers. I thought it was a carp and threw it back. I found out later from some local boys what I had done :(

"Thanx Yall", this past Thurs. we went to Calaveras Lk. here in SA & my Buddy caught a 6-Spotted Red-Fish, 4 on one side 2 on the other, this time we had Batteries in the Digi-Cam, as soon as he emails me the pics, Yes, Pics, he said he noticed the pic of my 4-spotted red came out after all*, I'll post them ASAP; He caught his with a DD-Rap. Lure, it was 5.25#'s, 24", He had a Bend on his Acadia-F Series-7'-M/H-2pc.-Rod. W/ 30#-Test-4-EQ.-Dia.-Red-Power-Pro Braid, 100% Spectra*Fiber. That's some Strong, Sweet Line*, anyone ever use that line?  "Take Care", L8r. James,"VATO LOCO"<;(({{}}))******><

Wow thats pretty neat.    How common is it to catch one with that many spots?

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

JackJ: In Fresh-Water Reds W/ Multiple Spots are common, another thing 'bout the fresh-water-Reds, they don't spawn, the T.P.W.D. stock the Fresh-Water-Reds, something to do w/ the Genes.  The Salt-Water Reds usually only have 1 or 2 spots 'round the Tx.-Gulf-Coast, Speaking of which; I sure wish I was down there Now, it's The Red-Drum-Run, now 'till Dec. (Spawn), Bull-Reds galore*, & Monsters Too* :o "Take Care", L8r. James,"VATO LOCO"<;({})****><  8)

I saw a fishing show sometime ago where they were holding a "spot" tournament when fishing for reds. Whoever caught one with the most spots won. It had nothingto do with the weight.
