2011 first time out
« on: January 06, 2011, 07:35:27 AM »
Bigfoot and I went to Stockton on Tuesday looking for specs.  We hadn't been in quite a while and things have changed.  The water surface temp is down to 40° and a cold front had passed through with some snow early.

Our main place didn't give up a bite.  Our second place gave up a few crappie and walleye.  We moved north and fished half way down the lake hitting channel swings and bluff ends.  We only caught 2 black bass, 1 crappie and 1 walleye on that trip.

We returned to the only place that had given fish early and caught a few more crappie and walleye.  We wound up catching 2 blacks, 2 whites, 10 walleye and 15 crappie.  That wasn't what we had hoped for but at least it wasn't a skunk and we brought home some skillet stinkers. ;D

We are now supposed to have 2 weeks of going nowhere with lows in the singles and highs in the 20s.

Glad you got out. Sounds like you did have a fairly productive day though, all things considered.
Ron came over today and we poured jigs all day. You're right about the future. I was thinking today I should have took my McStick to the lake  and saved the bait making for next week.  My planning needs a little help.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

Congrats on the outting, JigMan!

I like a few stinkers every once in a while myself.

Glad you got out there. We had a little hard water here for a while. I hope to get out soon but first I plan to take my boat in for a check-up.
